Shooting Stars 29th November 2020

This weekend’s Championship League match between Nottingham Forest and Swansea City promises to be a close-fought contest.

It can be tricky to choose the favourite when two teams are so well-matched but (despite them being the visiting team) Swansea’s recent form gives them a slight edge. They are awarded the 1st house and ascendant ruler Saturn (strong in his own sign at 28 Capricorn 16) as their main significators.

The opposing 7th house and ruler the Sun represents Nottingham Forest: At 07 Sagittarius 43, the Sun closely applies to the cusp of the 10th house (traditionally denoting victory for the favourites at 09 Sagittarius 20); a sign that Forest will prove able challengers to favourites Swansea.

However, the Moon (as indicator of the progress of events) seems firmly on the side of the favourites: First, she applies to trine Saturn (Lord 1) and moves next to conjunct the antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 29 Taurus 38); both strong testimonies for Swansea.

All testimonies considered, Swansea should win the day, but Forest will make them work hard for those three points, and victory will not come easily.

Shooting Stars 21st November 2020

This week’s featured match is the Premier League fixture between Spurs and Manchester City. The pundits expect an easy win for City, but do the heavens agree?

As favourites, Manchester City are awarded the 1st house and ascendant ruler Mercury at 14 Scorpio 25. They also have the 10th house (victory for the favourites) and its ruler Saturn, strong in his own sign of Capricorn at 27 Capricorn 36.

Even though they are the home team, Spurs are the opponents of the favourites and are therefore represented by the 7th house and its ruler Jupiter (in the sign of his fall at 24 Capricorn 23). They also have a house of victory: The 4th house, which opposes the 10th house, signifies victory for the underdogs and is here ruled by the Sun.

The Moon is placed in the 10th house (victory for Manchester City) but applies to square the Sun (ruler of the 4th house; victory for Spurs). Both teams can be expected to score, and a draw is not unlikely. Spurs may do better still if they are able to maintain pressure on City and exploit the opportunities which come their way in the latter stages of the game.

This Saturday’s astrological football prediction focuses on the Women’s Super League fixture between Manchester United Women and Manchester City Women

At the time of writing, Manchester United Women hold first place in the league, their current winning streak ensuring they go in to Saturday’s match against Manchester City as favourites. Because they are favourites (and not because they are the home team, as in other predictive techniques), they are awarded the 1st house and its ruler, Saturn. Well placed in his own sign of Capricorn and just inside the cusp of the 1st house, Saturn testifies to the winning form of United and lends his strength to their cause.

The opposing 7th house is given to rivals Manchester City. In this chart, the Moon rules the 7th house, but her role as significator of events in the match takes precedence, so Mars as the Moon’s dispositor steps in as substitute significator for City. Strong in his own sign of Aries, his support for City should not be discounted.

The Moon’s first aspect is a trine to Mars, indicating at least one goal for Manchester City. Her next aspect, a sextile to the Part of Fortune, favours the favourites. Being the final aspect the Moon makes (over the 5 to 6 degree orb usually considered effective for a 90 minute football match) this should ultimately award another win to United. The application of Jupiter (Lord of the 10th house; success for the favourites) to the cusp of the 1st house supports this conclusion, again showing victory going to Manchester United.

The signs are that United will have to work for this victory, however: The strength of the main significators for City and United, in combination with powerful aspects from the Moon, promises a spirited clash between the rivals and goals for both sides.

Astrological Football Forecasts for Cardiff City vs Bristol City, Tottenham Hotspur Women vs Reading Women and Chelsea vs Sheffield Utd

Up until now, this season’s predictions have focused on the Premiership but, by request, future posts will include fixtures from a greater variety of football leagues, including the Championship, European and the Women’s Super League.

With this in mind, this week’s first featured match is Friday’s Champions League match between Cardiff City and Bristol City. According to the pundits, Cardiff are set for victory: As favourites, they are represented by the 1st house, the sign on its cusp (Gemini) and its ruler Mercury. Their opponents, Bristol City are described by the 7th house and its ruler Jupiter. The Moon in her key role as significator of events applies first to oppose Saturn (Lord of the 10th house; victory for the favourites) and next squares Mercury, Lord 1. The unharmonious nature of the Moon’s aspects is less important than the contact with significant planets: These are both powerful testimonies which should bring Cardiff victory.

On to Saturday, and a Women’s Super League fixture between Spurs and Reading. Based on current form, Reading are favourites to win and are represented by Jupiter (Lord of the Ascendant). Their opponents Spurs are signified by the 7th house and its ruler Mercury. The Moon applies first to trine the antiscion of Jupiter (at 07 Sagittarius 59), pointing to a goal (or potential early lead) for Reading. The next testimony from the Moon, an opposition to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 11 Aquarius 37) offers hope of an equalizer to Spurs. But since the Moon has to travel over 7 degrees to perfect this aspect and an orb of 5 degrees is usually the effective limit for a 90 minute football match, the best chance for Spurs will occur in the latter minutes, success becoming more likely the match strays into extra time.

According to the pundits, Saturday’s Premiership clash between Chelsea and Sheffield United is a foregone conclusion, with Chelsea set for easy victory: But do the heavens agree? The Moon applies to conjunct the 4th house (victory for the underdogs) and trines the antiscion of Jupiter, Lord 7 (at 07 Sagittarius 58), both testimonies for Sheffield which suggest that Chelsea will find this match more challenging than first supposed. However, Chelsea have an ace up their sleeve in the form of the Part of Fortune’s conjunction with the antiscion of Mercury (02 Pisces 44): This testimony is the strongest in the chart, and confirms that Chelsea are unlikely to lose. Nevertheless, there will be goals for both sides and if Sheffield play as well as expected, a draw may be possible.
