England, as favourites, are signified by Mars (lord 1) and the Sun, (lord 10).  The key aspect in this chart is the Moon’s applying conjunction to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune at 28 Libra 20.  This supports a win for the favourites.  

However, the placement of Venus (lord 7) for Ghana, applying to the 10th house cusp, suggests that they will keep the pressure on England in this match, and should not be underestimated. 

Conclusion: A likely win for England, but Ghana will make them work for it.

Uruguay are odds-on favourites to win this Group H match against Cape Verde in Miami.  As favourites, they are represented by Jupiter, ruler of the 1st house.  

Their rivals, Cape Verde have Mercury (lord of the opposing 7th house) as their significator.  

The rulers of the 10th house and 4th houses are already spoken for as main significator for the opposing teams, so both Uruguay and Cape Verde have just on significator each.  

The Moon applies to trine the antiscion of Jupiter (at 01 Gemini 36).  This favours the favourites, Uruguay. 

Her next significant aspect is a trine to the antiscion of Mercury (for Cape Verde) at 06 Gemini 04.  This is just outside the 5-degree limit of orb for lunar aspects in a 90-minute football match, but could suggest an opportunity for Cape Verde in the latter stages of the game (even more likely if the match strays into extra time). 

This contest chart agrees with the pundits: Uruguay have the better chance of victory, but must take control of the game early on to secure a win.  The longer the result remains undecided, especially if extra time becomes possible, the greater the chance of Cape Verde gaining advantage.

There is a lot of anticipation for this Group E game, with pundits expecting goals from both teams.  But do the heavens agree?

Both sides are expected to play well, but Germany (who are one of the sides strongly tipped to win the tournament) are favourites.  As favourites, they are signified by Mars (lord 1) and the Sun (lord 10). 

For this match, Venus (lord 7) and Saturn (lord 4) are the planets which represent Ivory Coast.

In this chart there are two very strong testimonies in favour of the favourites: Firstly, Venus (lord 7, for Ivory Coast) sits just inside the 10th (the house of victory for the favourites, Germany).  This shows the hopes of Ivory Coast “captured” by the German team; a sign that the favourites will dominate the game.  If Venus had been on the 10th house cusp, or placed just outside the 10th house, the reverse would have been indicated, with Ivory Coast controlling play.  

Last but not least, the Moon applies to trine the Part of Fortune: Another strong testimony for the favourites.  

This contest chart suggests that fans of the German team will be the ones celebrating.  However, Ivory Coast are in good form (they won 2-1 in a recent friendly against France) and are strong candidates to qualify from their group: No matter the result, the performance of both teams is sure to be worth watching.

This group D game is bound to attract a great deal of attention, but what do the heavens say?

According to the current betting odds, America are favourites, but only just.  They are signified by Mercury, ruler of the 1st and 10th houses.

Jupiter, ruler of the 7th and 4th houses, represents rivals Australia.  

The Moon is a little too far from the 1st house cusp to deliver a boost to the fortunes of the home team (5-degrees is workable, whilst anything within 2-degrees is ideal).  

However, there is one testimony involving the Moon which is significant: She applies to square the antiscion of Mercury (for America) at 07 Gemini 27.  Although aspects (other than conjunctions or oppositions) involving antiscion are not always as reliable as bodily aspects, this is worthy of note.  

Note that the Moon is also conjunct the antiscion of Jupiter (for Australia, at 02 Gemini 13, but this aspect is already separating so is unlikely to have an influence on the result). 

Importantly, the antiscion of Mercury (07 Gemini 27) is placed close to the 10th house cusp.  As the 10th house is the house of victory (victory in general, and for the favourites in particular), this is a significant testimony for America.  

Note that the antiscion of Jupiter (for Australia) at 02 Gemini 13) is too far from the 10th house cusp, whilst the antiscion of Mercury (at 07 Gemini 27, for America) is close enough to derive benefit (within an orb of 5-degrees).  

For this match, the contest chart favours the favourites (at the time of writing, America). However,  as all the testimonies involve antiscion, their victory may not be straightforward and could involve some controversial or unexpected decisions.

The pundits favour Mexico to win this Group A match against South Korea, but do the heavens agree?

Jupiter, lord of the 1st and 10th houses, represents favourites Mexico.  Mercury, lord of the 7th and 4th houses, is significator for South Korea.  

This chart is remarkable for the total absence of any significant testimonies for either team. 

The Part of Fortune makes a sextile to her dispositor, Saturn.  Usually, only conjunctions or oppositions would be considered, but in the absence of any stronger testimonies, this might give the favourites a slight edge.

This chart tells us little, except that Mexico may have a slight advantage. However, a chart lacking in any definitive testimonies can also result in a draw, a possibility which cannot be overlooked.

Ranked 4th to Croatia’s 11th in the FIFA rankings, England are expected to do well in their first game of the tournament.  But do the heavens agree? 

England are represented solely by Venus, ruler of the 1st house.  They would usually have the ruler of the 10th house as their co-significator but in this chart, the 10th house ruler is the Moon, who already has a key role describing the events of the match.

Mars (7th house ruler) and Saturn (4th house ruler) represent Croatia.  

The Moon immediately applies to conjunct Venus, the most powerful testimony in favour of the favourites, England.  

In his book “Sports Astrology”, John Frawley observes that bodily conjunctions from the Moon are usually final: The lunar conjunction with Venus should be sufficient to secure a win for England.  

However, some caution is advised:  Immediately after her conjunction with Venus, the Moon moves to oppose the antiscion of the Part of Fortune at 05 Aquarius 40.  This favours Croatia.  

Furthermore, Saturn (4th house ruler, representing victory for Croatia) is placed very close to the cusp of the 7th house (Croatia’s main house in this contest chart).  This suggests that Croatia will approach the game with a winning mindset, and prove strong opposition.

The lunar conjunction to Venus shows that this match is England’s for the taking, but they will need to take charge, and the earlier the better. Ideally, they must ensure a result is secured within the first 90 minutes.  The further the game strays into extra time, the greater the opportunities for Croatia to turn the match to their advantage.

The odds-on favourites for this opening match of Group I are France. The Moon, ruler of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites) already has a key role describing the events of the match, so the favourites have only one significator: Venus, the ruler of the 1st house. 

Senegal are represented by Mars (7th house ruler) and Saturn (4th house ruler).  

The Moon first applies to conjunct Mercury, and next aspects Mars (7th house, for Senegal) by sextile. 

The Moon next moves to conjunct the cusp of the 10th house. This is very helpful for the favourites (France) as the Moon describe how the events of the match will unfold and the 10th house is France’s house of victory.  

Just past this conjunction with the 10th house cusp, the Moon next sextiles the antiscion of Venus (ruler of the 1st house, for France) at 26 Taurus 07. The Moon must travel just past the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for aspects in a 90-minute football match, but it is a testimony worthy of note which also favours the favourites. 

Overall, this contest chart favours France, although the lunar sextile with Mars suggests that Senegal will not make things easy for the favourites.  France will play well, as shown by the Moon’ conjunction with the 10th house cusp, and the lunar sextile to the antiscion of Venus points to a chance for them to take the lead in the latter stages of the game.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup: 14th June Netherlands vs Japan

The Netherlands are favourites to win this Group F match, but it would be unwise to underestimate Japan, who convincingly won against both Germany and Spain in the 2022 World Cup.  

In contest charts, the favourites are usually represented by the rulers of the 1st house and the 10th house. However, in this chart, the 10th house is ruled by the Moon, who already has a key role describing the events of the match.  For this reason, the Netherlands (as favourites) have just one significator: Venus, ruler of the 1st house.  

Japan are represented by Mars, ruler of the 7th house and Saturn, ruler of the 4th house.  

Many of these early-stage tournament charts have had few testimonies to indicate the result.  This game is no exception.

In fact there is just one: Saturn (ruler of the 4th house, for Japan) is placed exactly on the cusp of the 7th house (Japan).  This is a sign that the Blue Samurai will go into this game with a winning attitude, and have the skill and determination to present real problems for the Netherlands.  Whether this translates into a win for Japan remains to be seen, but it promises to be a game worth watching
