Saturday 27th August 2022: Arsenal vs Fulham

The match chart for this Saturday’s game between Arsenal and Fulham once again illustrates the importance of the Part of Fortune in judging contest charts.

Arsenal are the favourites, and are awarded Saturn (Lord 1) and Mars (Lord 10, victory for the favourites) as their significators.

With the Moon already occupied as significator of the progress of events, her dispositor Mercury steps in as a substitute for Lord 7, main significator for rivals Fulham. They are also awarded Venus (Lord 4, victory for the underdogs).

However, none of these planets have a major role in the forthcoming match: The main players are the Moon and the Part of Fortune.

The Part of Fortune is in the 1st house, very close to the house cusp. This is always the case with matches played around the new Moon, yet the records show that the favourites do not win every match scheduled at this time: Therefore, the bodily placement of the Part of Fortune is not considered significant.

Nor do the placement of the North and South Nodes (in the 4th and 10th houses) signify: They only carry weight in contest charts when they aspect the teams planetary significators.

More important is the Moon’s trine to the Part of Fortune. Within the 5-degree orb considered reliable for 90-minute football matches, this is a powerful testimony for the favourites which would be difficult to beat even if there were any other testimonies of equal strength in the chart.

Instead, we have only one weak testimony for Fulham, a trine from the Moon to the antiscion of Venus (Lord 4) at 10 Taurus 29. At best this signifies a goal for Fulham, but is not sufficiently powerful to threaten Arsenal’s anticipated victory.

Friday 20th August 2022: Spurs vs Wolves

The Part of Fortune often has a key part to play in sporting contests, and never more so than this intriguing chart for Saturday’s match between Spurs and Wolves.

As favourites, Spurs are awarded Mars (Lord 1) and the Sun (Lord of the 10th house; victory for the favourites).

Rivals Wolves are represented by Venus (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and Saturn (Lord of the 4th house; victory for the underdogs).

The Sun (for Spurs) is strongly placed in his own house, but too far from the house cusp to help his team’s cause:  An orb of around 2 degrees or less is usually the most effective in such cases.

Saturn (for Wolves) is also strongly placed in his own house but is much closer to the house cusp.  Because of his retrograde motion, he is moving closer still:  Spurs would do well not to underestimate Wolves, who will prove formidable opposition.

With the Moon, (who represents the progress of events) making no aspects to any of the main significators within the 5-degree orb usually considered effective for 90-minute football matches, the Part of Fortune steps forward as the key player in this chart.

Being linked to the Moon’s phases, the placement of the Part of Fortune by house is rarely significant:  Every lunar month it will be in the same position, matching its related point in the Moon’s cycle.  The placement of the Part of Fortune in the 10th house can therefore be overlooked.

However, the conjunction of the Part of Fortune with the Sun (Lord 10) is worthy of note:  Had the orb of aspect been closer, this would award Spurs the match.  At over 7 degrees distant, such a result cannot be guaranteed, but the aspect is nevertheless important.

The applying opposition between Saturn and the Part of Fortune is closer, and therefore more significant:  It is further evidence that Wolves will be a force to be reckoned with.

If the bodily placement of the Part of Fortune is not significant, the same cannot be said for its antiscion. Here, at 09 Taurus 49, it is placed in the 7th house: A vote of confidence for Wolves. It is not close enough to the cusp to signify a win (an orb of 2 degrees or less would be required to guarantee Wolves the match) but it is a testimony worthy of consideration.

So, we have one testimony for Spurs and three for Wolves, none of which conclusively promise a win for either side.

Wolves will have to play extremely well to win, but will certainly give Spurs a run for their money: A close result is to be expected and a draw cannot be ruled out.

Friday 13th August 2022: Aston Villa vs Everton

In terms of form, there is little to choose between these teams: Still early in the season, they have played one game each, and both lost. Everton conceded less goals, and currently reside one place higher in the Premiership. However, the bookies favour Aston Villa, who will be playing at home. In John Frawley’s system of contest forecasts, the home team is not automatically considered the favourites, but here this seems the case.

As favourites, Aston Villa are awarded the 1st house, its ruler Venus (at 02 Leo 05) and the Sun (10th house ruler, representing success in general and victory for the favourites in particular).

Rivals Everton are described by Mars (ruler of the opposing 7th house) and Saturn, ruler of the 4th house (victory for the underdogs).

A very late degree rises (29 Libra 29).  If the kickoff is delayed, there is potential for the main significators of the teams to swap over (with Scorpio rising, Mars will signify the 1st house and the favourites and Venus will represent the 7th house and the underdogs). However, the Moon (significator of events) aspects neither Venus or Mars within the 5-degree orb usually considered effective for 90-minute football matches, and nor are any other placements of these planets significant, so a late kickoff is unlikely to effect the outcome.

The antiscion of Mars (at 04 Leo 06) is a bit too far from the 10th house cusp (success) to be significant for Everton. Similarly the conjunction between Mars and the Part of Fortune is too wide for this to help their cause.

However, the antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 10 Leo 59) aligns with the 10th house cusp exactly: Potentially, this is a winning testimony for the favourites which, if the pundits are correct in their choice, will give Aston Villa cause to celebrate this Saturday.

Friday 5th August 2022: Crystal Palace vs Arsenal

A new season brings new hope: Wishing all the best to my readers and every success to the teams you support!

In this week’s featured fixture: Will favourites Arsenal win this Friday, or will Crystal Palace have a few surprises the pundits? Let us see what the heavens have to say…

As favourites, Arsenal are represented by Saturn (Lord 1) and Jupiter (Lord of the 10th house, usually signifying victory for the favourites).

As the Moon will be busy describing events during the match, her dispositor Mars stands in a main significator for Crystal Palace. They are also described by Mercury, ruler of the 4th house (victory for the underdogs).

Pluto, who astrologer John Frawley observes often has a grudge against the favourites, hovers menacingly over the 1st house. However, at over 2 degrees from the house cusp, Pluto is a little too distant to inflict much damage, and his retrograde motion is taking him further away, not closer. Arsenal’s performance may be very slightly impaired, but this is the most we can expect.

More significant are the Moon’s impending opposition to Mars (favourable for Crystal Palace) followed by a square to Saturn (for Arsenal).

As the Moon’s last aspect to a key planet usually decides the match, Arsenal fans should have cause to celebrate at the final whistle. However, Arsenal’s performance may not live up to all they are capable of, and there will also be chances for Crystal Palace to boost their standing with at least one goal.
