Championship Play-Off Final 27th May 2023: Coventry City vs Luton Town

Coventry City face Luton Town at Wembley this Saturday, for the Championship League play-off final. Luton Town are currently 3rd in the table, compared to Coventry City’s 5th place, and are favoured by the pundits to move up to the Premiership.

Venus (lord 1) represents favourites Luton. As the Moon, ruler of the 10th house (victory for the favourites) already has an important role as significator of events, her dispositor Mercury steps in as their co-significator.

Coventry City are represented by Mars, ruler of the opposing 7th house. Saturn, ruler of the 4th house (victory for the underdogs) is Coventry’s co-significator.

Mars (for Coventry) is placed in the 10th house but is too far from the house cusp (over 2 degrees) and in a different sign, so this testimony is not significant.

The Moon, significator of events, immediate applies to trine Saturn: This is highly positive for Coventry.

She next applies to trine Mercury, an aspect which favours Luton.

With testimonies so evenly balanced, we need something else to tip the balance in favour of one team or another.

Venus (lord 1) opposes the Part of Fortune. This aspect favours Luton and (if pundits are correct that Luton are the favourites) is highly likely to be their ticket to the Premiership.

Premier League Sunday 21st May 2023: Manchester City vs Chelsea

Currently placed at the top of the table, Manchester City are favourites to win Sunday’s match at Etihad Stadium. But do the stars agree?

As favourites, Venus (lord of the 1st house) represents the favourites (Manchester City). The Moon, lord of the 10th house (victory for the favourites) already has a key role as significator of events, so her dispositor (Mercury) is called from the substitute’s bench to step in as co-significator for Manchester City.

Mars, (lord of the opposing 7th house) and Saturn (lord of the 4th house; victory for the underdogs) represent Chelsea.

Venus is in the 10th house, placed very close to the 10th house cusp. This testimony for the favourites would be stronger if Venus were 2 to 3 degrees closer to the cusp, but it is highly positive, nonetheless.

The antiscion of the Moon (at 06 Cancer 30), placed even closer to the 10th house cusp, is another significant testimony for the favourites.

In the absence of any corresponding testimonies for Chelsea, the heavens appear to agree with the pundits: A win for Manchester City is the most likely outcome.

Premier League Saturday 13th May 2023: Leeds vs Newcastle

With favourites Newcastle 4th in the table, and Leeds facing the prospect of relegation, the outcome of this Saturday’s fixture at Elland Road seems a forgone conclusion. But do the heavens agree?

As favourites, Newcastle are represented by the Sun (Lord 1) and Venus (Lord of the 10th house; victory for the favourites).

Rivals Leeds are signified by Saturn (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and Mars (Lord of the 4th house; victory for the underdogs).

In his book “Sports Astrology” John Frawley notes that the Moon’s aspects decide the greatest proportion of contest charts.

Here the Moon applies to a conjunction with Saturn (Lord 7, for Leeds) at 06 Pisces 12. Bodily conjunctions from the Moon are usually enough to win the match: Contrary to expectations, could Leeds be celebrating this Saturday?

However, the Moon next trines Venus (at 06 Cancer 24). In this chart, Venus represents victory for the favourites, so this is an extremely positive testimony for Newcastle.

The closeness of these two lunar aspects (the conjunction and the trine), which occur almost simultaneously, suggest that this chart may offer an exception to the rule that bodily conjunctions from the Moon usually decide the match.

This is an exceptionally fascinating chart. A draw is the least likely outcome, but it will be interesting to see which lunar aspect is stronger and whether Leeds or Newcastle will emerge victorious.
