Shooting Stars 20th March 2021

Manchester City are odds-on favourites to win at Goodison Park this Saturday, but does this week’s FA Cup Quarter-Final fixture have a surprise in store?

Mercury, ruler of the first house describes the favourites, Manchester City.  At 06 Pisces 40, Mercury is in the sign of his fall, but essential dignity seems less relevant in contest charts:  Accidental dignity; the placement of planets and the aspects to them, often proves more significant.

Their hosts are signified by the opposing 7th house and its ruler, Jupiter.  At 20 Aquarius 56, Jupiter will be the first planet to be aspected by the Moon, (by trine) signifying at least one goal for Everton.

The Moon only aspects Mercury (Man City’s significator) by antiscion (at 23 Libra 20).  Had this been an aspect to Mercury himself rather than his antiscion it would likely mean a win for Chelsea, this being the last aspect the Moon makes over the 5-degree orb usually considered effective for a 90-minute football match. An aspect by antiscion is less conclusive, but still holds the promise of goals for Manchester City.

A stronger indication for Manchester City is the placement of the Moon in the 10th house (the house of victory, and more specifically, victory for the favourites).  In combination with the Moon’s aspect to Mercury’s antiscion, this could be enough to win them the match.  However, the Moon’s trine to Jupiter (for Everton) is also significant:  Both sides look set to score, and a draw cannot be ruled out.  Everton in particular look set to surprise the pundits with a more convincing performance than expected.

Shooting Stars 13th March 2021

This weekend Leeds play host to Chelsea, and although they may own the keys to Elland Road, the Part of Fortune holds the key to the result.

Currently placed at fourth in the League and undefeated in their last eleven games, Chelsea are odds-on favourites and are represented by the 1st house:  With Cancer as the rising sign, and the Moon already spoken for as significator of the action, they are described by the Moon’s dispositor (Jupiter at 19 Aquarius 24).  Leeds are represented by the opposing 7th house and ruler Saturn at 09 Aquarius 44.

The Part of Fortune in the 1st house at just over a degree from the ascendant is a powerful testimony for Chelsea, confirmed by the Moon’s immediate trine to the Part of Fortune (the Part of Fortune in harmonious aspect to its own dispositor favours the favourites).

Pluto opposes the angle of the ascendant from the cusp of the 7th house, but this alone is unlikely to counteract the powerful testimonies of the Moon and Part of Fortune:  Chelsea’s run of victories seem destined to continue for another week.

Shooting Stars 6th March 2021

In this week’s chart, the heavens incline towards the favourites.  But which team might that be?

Arsenal are odds on favourites to win this Saturday’s match against Burnley, but despite a convincing win against Leicester City last weekend, their recent form does not fully justify the bookie’s confidence.  Out of their last five Premier League games, they have only two wins to their credit. In contrast their hosts Burnley have only lost one out of their last five Premiership games and beat Arsenal in their most recent clash last December.

The favourites are described by the first house and the sign on the cusp:  Cancer rises with ruler the Moon already spoken for marking the progress of events, her dispositor Jupiter is substituted as their main significator.  Saturn, strongly placed in his own sign of Aquarius represents their opponents.

The only testimony of significance is the trine to the Part of Fortune, which favours the favourites.  But which team are they?  This highlights the only drawback in an otherwise reliable system of prediction: The dependence on the judgement of the bookmakers which, due to numerous factors, may not always be completely reliable.

On recent form, Burnley have as good a claim to the title as Arsenal and at the time of writing, are just one place below them in the table.  With just one reliable testimony in the chart, a draw is unlikely, but it will be interesting to see if the pundits assessment of a win for Arsenal is correct.
