FA Cup Quarter Final Special: Saturday 29th March 2025 Brighton and Hove Albion vs Nottingham Forest

According to the pundits, Brighton are odds-on favourites this afternoon’s FA Cup Quarter Final at Amex Stadium.  Brighton have the support of the home crowd, and have played well in recent matches, winning 6 of their last 7 games.

Forest, who are placed 3rd in the table to Brighton’s 7th, have drawn their last 10 matches, suggesting their form is not as strong as earlier in the season, when they beat Brighton 7-0.  Furthermore, the absence of key striker Chris Wood, due to a hip injury, is a setback which may take a toll on their attacking strategy.

So, although their 3rd place in the League Table suggests Forest are the stronger team, this assessment may be based on past glories. The results of recent matches point to Brighton as the stronger team going into today’s match.

The favourites are signified by Mercury, ruler of the 1st and 10th houses.  Mercury is currently retrograde.  In contest charts, this does not usually affect the result.  Nor does Mercury’s imminent arrival in Pisces, the sign of his detriment, or the house placement of the South and North Nodes, despite their proximity to the 1st and 7th house cusps.

More significantly, Mercury (although separating from combustion) is still close enough to the Sun to feel the detrimental effects. This is challenging for the favourites.

Mercury (Lord 1) opposes the Part of Fortune.  This would point to a win for the underdogs, but the aspect is already separating and refers to past glories, not future results.

Venus is the dispositor of the Part of Fortune.  At 01 Libra 20, the antiscion of Venus is conjunct the Part of Fortune, which would usually be positive for the favourites.  However, Venus is retrograde, so this aspect is separating, and therefore has no bearing on the result.

So far, we have a lot of separating aspects, which describe the recent form for both teams, but less which throws light on today’s game.  We must look to the aspects of the Moon, which more often provide the key to the results of contest matches than any other testimonies.

The Moon applies to sextile Jupiter, her only aspect over 5 degrees.  This favours victory for the underdogs.

The bigger question revolves around which team are the favourites and which are the underdogs.

Nottingham are placed higher in the table than Brighton, which is a strong argument for them being the better team and the favourites, unless recent form is considered. This would be good news for underdogs Brighton.

However, if the pundits are correct, and Brighton are the favourites, Nottingham Forest are the underdogs and are likely to show an improvement in form and have a chance to repeat their victory over Brighton earlier in the season.

Either way, this match promises to be closely fought, with strong performances from both sides.

Astrological Football Forecast for League Two: 22nd March 2025 Notts County vs Crewe Alexandria

Currently placed 5th in the table to Crewe’s 8th, Notts County are odds-on favourites for a home win this Saturday. But do the heavens agree?

The Sun (ruler of the 1st house) represents the favourites, Notts County. They also have Mars (ruler of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites) as their co-significator.

Rivals Crewe Alexandria are signified solely by Saturn (ruler of the opposing 7th house), as Venus (ruler of the 4th house) is already spoken for as dispositor of the Part of Fortune.

Saturn applies to conjunct the North Node: Were Saturn closer to the North Node (within 1-2 degrees), this would be a powerful boost for Crewe, but here the orb of aspect is too wide.

The Moon’s applying aspects describe how the game will unfold.  She first squares Venus, ruler of the 4th house: This would also be a powerful testimony for underdogs Crewe, were not Venus also the dispositor of the Part of Fortune. As such, this lunar aspect has no relevance to the outcome.

The Moon’s next aspect, a trine to the Part of Fortune, is the last lunar aspect (over the 5-degree orb considered most effective for 90-minute football matches) pointing to a good result for the favourites, Notts County.

EFL (Carabao) Cup Special: Sunday 16th March 2025 Liverpool vs Newcastle United

Currently top of the Premier League, Liverpool are the odds-on favourites to win this Sunday’s EFL/Carabao Cup final at Wembley.  They are signified by Mercury, lord of the 1st and 10th houses.  Jupiter, lord of the 7th and 4th houses, represents rivals Newcastle United.

The Moon, whose major aspects describe how the match will unfold, is void of course (she makes no further aspects in her current sign of Libra).  In sporting contests, this often heralds a match with few surprises:  The status quo will be maintained, and a win for the favourites is the most likely outcome.

Mercury is retrograde, but this is not a setback in contest charts, especially as he applies to conjunct the Part of Fortune, a strong testimony for the favourites.  Venus intercedes between Mercury and the Part of Fortune, preventing a bodily (exact) conjunction, but she ‘collects the light’ of both, bringing Mercury and the Part of Fortune together through her influence.

Overall, the prospects look excellent for the favourites:  All things being equal, Liverpool fans should have much to celebrate on Sunday evening.

Post-match report 16th March 2025: The result was Liverpool-1 Newcastle-2, with Newcastle dominating the action to bring to an end a 70-year trophy wait. Mistakes can be valuable teachers, as in this case, where I failed to notice that Venus was also about to turn retrograde. There will be no conjunction with retrograde Mercury before Venus leaves Aries and re-enters the sign of Pisces, hence no ‘collection of light’ between Mercury and the Part of Fortune, which was the major testimony for a Liverpool win in my original forecast. In his book ‘Sports Astrology’, John Frawley states that it is crucial to make sure the aspect actually happens: The chart for this match is the perfect demonstration of why this advice is so important!

Astrological Football Forecast for the Premier League: 8th March 2025 Brentford vs Aston Villa

At the time of writing, the pundits favour Brentford, whose recent form is slightly better than their rivals (Brentford have won 3 games out of 5, whilst Villa have won 2). Nevertheless, this promises to be a very close contest, in which Brentford will be hoping that home crowd support will cheer them to victory.

As favourites, Brentford are signified by Mercury, ruler of the 1st and 10th houses (the 1st house represents the favourites, whilst the 10th house signifies their hopes of victory).

Their rivals, Aston Villa, are represented by Jupiter, ruler of the 7th and 4th houses.

The Moon (whose aspects decide the results of more matches than any other testimonies) makes no aspects to either Mercury or Jupiter over the 5-degree orb considered most effective for a 90-minute football match, so we must look elsewhere in this chart.

Jupiter (Aston Villa) placed just inside the 10th house (Brentford) is highly positive for Brentford.  If Jupiter had been directly on the cusp, this would have favoured Villa, showing them dominating Brentford’s hopes of victory.  However, Jupiter placed inside the 10th house, (even so close to the cusp), depicts Aston Villa in the power of their rivals.

If the pundits are correct and Brentford truly are the favourites, this testimony should be powerful enough to award victory to the home team.
