This chart is all about the Moon (with a little help from the Part of Fortune, which is linked to the current phase of the Moon). 

In contest charts, the Moon has a key role: Through her sign/house placement and aspects she describes how events will unfold during the match.  Because she is so occupied, the Moon can never be significator of one of the teams competing.  In such cases, the Moon’s dispositor; the ruler of the sign she is in, usually steps in as substitute. 

In this chart, the Moon rules the 7th house (the house of the underdogs, Fulham, who are currently placed 11th in the table to Manchester United’s 3rd place). 

The Moon is in Capricorn, so her dispositor is Saturn.  However, he is unable to be substitute significator for Fulham as he, too, is already spoken for: As ruler of the 1st house, Saturn has already been claimed as main significator for the favourites, Manchester United.  

This gives Fulham just one significator in this match: Venus, ruler of the 4th house (the house of victory for the underdogs). 

In addition to Saturn (ruler of the 1st house) favourites Manchester United have Mars (ruler of the 10th house, their house of victory) as their co-significator.  

The Moon immediately applies to conjunct the 1st house cusp.  This is a powerful testimony of victory for the favourites.  Apart from this, the Moon makes no other significant aspects over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for 90-minute football matches.  

The Part of Fortune awaits an opposition from her dispositor, Venus: This is favourable for underdogs Fulham.

On balance, this chart favours the favourites more than the underdogs: A lunar conjunction with the 1st house cusp is hard to beat.  

If Manchester United are the favourites, as their position in the League Table and the bookies’ odds suggest, they are unlikely to lose this game.  

However, Fulham may be able to make use of the Venus/Part of Fortune opposition to draw the match, and reduce United’s points from 3 to 1.

According to the bookies, Tottenham Hotspur are hot favourites to win. But do the heavens agree? 

Saturn (lord 1) and Jupiter (lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites) represent Spurs.  

As the Moon already has a role describing the events of the match, Mercury, her dispositor, steps in as substitute significator for Everton.  As Mercury also rules the 4th house (the house of victory for the underdogs), he is the sole representative for Everton in this match.

The Moon applies to oppose Saturn, lord of the 1st house.  Despite the challenging nature of the aspect, this is a positive sign for the favourites, Spurs.  

Retrograde Pluto (who, John Frawley observes, seems to hold a grudge against the favourites) is menacingly close to the 1st house cusp.  His baleful influence is mitigated by his being in a different sign to the house cusp (the ascendant for the kickoff time is 29 Capricorn 07, whilst Pluto is in Aquarius).  However, should the start of the match be delayed by three minutes or more, Pluto could spell real problems for Spurs.  

To sum up, the heavens agree with the bookies : Provided the match starts on time, a win for the favourites is the most likely outcome.  However, should a delay to the kickoff bring Pluto into play, the result is much less certain.

As a result, Chelsea have just one significator, Venus (lord 4).

John Frawley observes that the aspects of the Moon provide the key to more match results than any other testimony.  

Here the Moon applies almost immediately to a conjunction with Mars, ruler of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites).  

In his book, “Sports Astrology” John Frawley notes that the lunar conjunctions are usually the final word on the result: If this proves to be the case in this match, an Arsenal victory is the most likely outcome.
