Placed 7th place in the table to Sunderland’s 20th, Leeds are the favourites, but a quick comparison of the bookies’ odds suggests the match will be close. Do the heavens agree?
In John Frawley’s system, the 1st house belongs to the favourites, whether they are the home team or not. The Moon hovering closely over the 1st house cusp is a strong testimony in favour of Leeds.
However, Sunderland are not without celestial supporters: Venus, ruler of the 7th house (the house of the underdogs) is strongly placed on the cusp of her own house, and moving ever closer due to her retrograde motion. She has just arrived back in her own sign of Libra, nullifying a debilitating combustion with the Sun in Scorpio. This is a positive sign than Sunderland will prove strong opposition.
She also applies to conjunct the Part of Fortune. The orb of aspect (over 8-degrees) is too far to be of practical significance, but does show that Sunderland have a strong will to win, and will play accordingly.
This chart agrees with the bookies: The result is likely to be close. Sunderland will play to win, but the Moon applying to the 1st house cusp will give Leeds the edge, and the favourites will be tough to beat.
Sunderland’s best hope is a late kickoff, which will weaken (by distance of orb) the power of the Moon’s conjunction with the 1st house cusp, while bringing 7th ruler Venus and the Part of Fortune within closer aspect.
