Although Spurs are currently placed higher in the table, the bookmaker’s odds favour home side Brighton: As favourites, Brighton are awarded the Sun (ruler of the 1st house) and Venus (ruler of the 10th house; the house of victory for the favourites).
Saturn, ruler of the opposing 7th house, represents Tottenham, who also have Mars, ruler of the 4th house as their co-significator.
The Moon, who describes how events will unfold during the match, applies to trine Venus; a strong testimony for the favourites which should be sufficient to win them the match.
If the bookies odds are correct, and Brighton truly are the favourites, they should have cause to celebrate this evening.
Placed 5th in the Premier League table to Everton’s 17th, Manchester City are odds-on favourites to win. As favourites, they are awarded the 1st house and its ruler, the Sun. Their co-significator is Venus, ruler of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites).
Hosts Everton, as the underdogs, are represented by Saturn (ruler of the opposing 7th house) and Mars (ruler of the 4th house).
The Moon, at 15 degrees Cancer, makes no aspect to any relevant planet or house cusp, or the Part of Fortune over the 5-degree orb usually considered effective for a 90-minute football match.
However, the Part of Fortune receives aspects from the main significators of both teams: A sextile from the Sun (for Manchester City) and a conjunction from Saturn (for Everton). Of these aspects, the conjunction with Saturn is strongest for two reasons:
Firstly, Saturn applies to a conjunction with the Part of Fortune whilst the sextile from the Sun is separating. Only applying aspects have a bearing on future events in contest charts.
Secondly, John Frawley in his book “Sports Astrology” observes that only conjunction and opposition aspects from main significators to the Part of Fortune work reliably; sextiles and squares are much less significant.
If we take these points into consideration, this chart only has one testimony which has a bearing on the result: The applying conjunction from Saturn to the Part of Fortune. This hints that Everton will do much better than the pundits expect. Either this match will be won by Everton, or the result will be such that it will seem nearly as good as a win (possibly a draw).
In this chart, the 1st house and its ruler the Sun signify the favourites. Saturn ruler of the opposing 7th house represents the underdogs. At the time of writing, the bookies odds indicate that home side Manchester United are the favourites, but their lacklustre performance in recent games and Aston Villa’s strong standing in the league table suggest this may not be the case.
The Moon applies first to trine Saturn, for the underdogs and next opposes the Sun, for the favourites.
At the time of writing, the pundits expect the result of this match to be very close, possibly even a draw; a verdict with which this contest chart seems to agree.
A draw is very possible, with the favourites having a slight advantage. The biggest challenge is determining which team the favourites will be.
Today’s forecast features a match from the American National Football League, as the Philadelphia Eagles do battle with the New York Giants. Although the rules differ from British soccer, the same astrological laws apply.
As favourites, the Philadelphia Eagles would usually be signified by the ruler of the 1st house. This would be the Moon, but she already has a key role describing the events of the match. Because of this, Mercury, the dispositor of the Moon, stands in as significator for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Mars, lord of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites) is their co-significator.
The New York Giants are signified by Saturn, lord of the opposing 7th house. They would usually have, as their co-significator; the lord of the 4th house (victory for the underdogs). However, Mercury (lord of the 4th house) is already spoken for as main significator for rivals the Philadelphia Eagles.
The aspects the Moon makes are of great importance in contest charts, and often decide the result. The Moon first applies to an opposition with Mars. Despite the challenging nature of the opposition aspect, this is very favourable for the Philadelphia Eagles.
The next lunar aspect is another opposition; this time to Mercury. This aspect is slightly outside the 5-degree orb considered effective for a 90-minute Premier League soccer match, but NFL games last longer, so the limit can be extended by a little more.
As Mercury is another significator for the favourites, victory looks likely for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although Wolves might be expected to have a home advantage, Chelsea are the favourites for this Christmas Eve match at Molineux Stadium.
As favourites, Chelsea are signified by Venus, lord of the 1st house and Saturn, lord of the 10th house (victory for the favourites).
Opponents and hosts Wolves are signified by Mars, lord of the opposing 7th house. This is their sole significator, as the Moon (ruler of the 4th house of victory for the underdogs) already has an important role describing the events of the match.
Within the 5-degree orb limit for a 90-minute football match, there is only one significant aspect; the lunar trine to the Part of Fortune, which favours the favourites.
According to the pundits, home team Liverpool have a slight advantage over Arsenal, and are therefore considered the favourites.
The Moon (ruler of the 1st house) already has an important role as significator of events during the match: Therefore, Venus, dispositor of the Moon, is called from the substitutes bench to represent Liverpool.
Liverpool’s co-significator would usually be Jupiter (ruler of the 10th house of victory for the favourites). However, Jupiter is already spoken for as dispositor of the Part of Fortune, so Venus remains the sole significator for Liverpool.
Saturn, ruler of the opposing 7th house, represents Arsenal. They also have a co-significator, Mercury (ruler of the 4th house of victory for the underdogs).
In contest charts, the result is most often decided by the Moon’s aspects. The only significant aspect the Moon makes (within the 5-degree orb usually considered most effective for a 90-minute football match) is an opposition to Venus, a strong testimony for favourites Liverpool.
This chart favours the favourites: Liverpool’s fans should have cause to celebrate this evening.
Visitors Liverpool are odds-on favourites to win so, in John Frawley’s system, are awarded the 1st house and Jupiter, the traditional ruler of Pisces.
Their hosts, Crystal Palace, are not expected to do well. As the underdogs, they have Mercury, ruler of the opposing 7th house, as their significator.
Mercury’s placement in the 10th house of victory is very fortunate for Crystal Palace. It would be even more so if it were close to the house cusp, but even in an intercepted sign, this is a positive testimony.
The lunar aspects often decide the result of the match. Here, the first aspect from the Moon (which has a bearing on the outcome) is an opposition to Jupiter; a positive testimony for Liverpool.
The only other aspect which the Moon makes within her effective orb of 5 degrees is a sextile to Mercury; a strong testimony for Crystal Palace.
So, we have one lunar aspect for each team, and a further positive testimony (Mercury in the 10th house) for Crystal Palace.
Palace will do much better than expected. The testimonies are not conclusive enough to guarantee a win, but a draw seems very likely.
For Saturday’s League Two match at Meadow Lane, the odds favour hosts Notts County to win.
As favourites, they are awarded the 1st house and its ruler, Saturn (at 00 Pisces 41). Notts County are also signified by Jupiter, ruler of the 10th house (house of success for the favourites).
Rivals Bradford City have the Sun, ruler of the opposing 7th house as their primary significator. Mercury, ruler of Gemini and the 4th house (victory for the underdogs), is their co-significator.
In charts for sporting contests, the Moon’s aspects often decide the result. In this chart, she applies first to conjunct the cusp of the 1st house, delivering a huge boost to the fortunes of home side Notts County.
An orb of 5 degrees is the most reliable of lunar aspects in 90-minute football matches. The only other aspect within this orb is the conjunction of the Moon to the antiscion of the Sun (at 04 Aquarius 07). This is highly fortunate for Bradford City: Although not quite as strong as a bodily conjunction, this is the last lunar aspect within orb and might have been sufficient to award Bradford City the match, in the absence of any stronger testimonies.
However, it cannot be ignored that the antiscion of the Sun is located just inside the 1st house, placing Bradford City in the power of the Notts County.
Victory for favourites Notts County seems the most likely result.
Fulham have had an inconsistent start to the new season but are still doing better than Chelsea, at the time of writing, placed 11th to Chelsea’s 15th in the Table.
The home advantage also favours Fulham, so it makes sense to consider them the favourites. As favourites, Fulham are represented by the 1st house and its ruler, Venus (the planet which rules Taurus). Saturn, ruler of the 10th house (victory for the favourites) is Fulham’s co-significator.
Mars, ruler of Scorpio and the opposing 7th house, represents rivals Chelsea. He is their sole significator in this match as the Moon, ruler of the 4th house (victory for the underdogs) has another job describing how events will unfold during the match.
The Moon’s role in this match is decisive: She is placed just inside the 1st house, conjunct the 1st house cusp. This is a tremendous boost for Fulham. The Moon also applies to trine Venus, Fulham’s main significator. These two powerful testimonies are sufficiently strong to award the match to the home team.
Adding to Chelsea’s pain, Mars, their only significator, is closely conjunct the South Node which, in contest charts, is a baleful affliction.
The contest chart for the much-anticipated final between Spain and England favours the favourites. The biggest challenge is deciding which team the favourites are: At the time of writing, the pundits lean towards a win for Spain, but support is strong for both sides.
As favourites, Spain are awarded the 1st house, and its ruler, Jupiter.
Mercury, ruler of the 1st house represents rivals England. Mercury is in Virgo, the sign of his rulership and exaltation: We can look forward to another formidable performance from the Lionesses.
However, all other testimonies favour the favourites: The Part of Fortune (victory) is conjunct Jupiter (for Spain), whilst the Moon also lends her support to Spain’s cause with a sextile to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune at 16 Leo 31.
If Spain are truly the favourites, they are likely to be the ones celebrating on Sunday. However, as a supporter of the Lionesses, I don’t mind admitting that I would be happier if the result favours England!
