The local kick off time for this Group F match at the TQL Stadium in Cincinnati, Ohio 12pm (ET) on 21st June 2025. 

Borussia Dortmund’s first match of the tournament was a goalless draw against Fluminense.  In contrast, Mamelodi Sundowns won their first game, a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Ulsan HD.   

Despite these results, Borussia Dortmund are considered odds-on favourites to win this Saturday.  But do the heavens agree? 

Mercury, ruler of the 1^st and 10^th houses, represents Borussia Dortmund, whilst Jupiter (ruler of the 7^th and 4^th houses) is significator for Mamelodi Sundowns.   

Mercury (for Dortmund) is in proximity to the Part of Fortune.  If this was an applying conjunction, this would be very favourable for Dortmund, sufficient to win them the match.  However, the aspect is separating, so is not relevant to the result.   

More significant is the Sun’s applying conjunction to Jupiter.  Jupiter is just over two degrees away from the Sun and therefore combust.  Combustion is very destructive in contest charts and suggests that (for this match at least) Mamelodi will struggle to play at their best.   

Overall, this chart agrees with the pundits, and inclines to a likely win for Dortmund.

Atletico Madrid are the favourites:  They are odds-on to win against their Group B rivals, the Seattle Sounders (despite Seattle having the advantage of a home crowd).   

As favourites, Atletico Madrid are signified by Venus (lord 1).  The Moon (ruler of the 10^th house, the house of victory for the favourites) already has a key role describing the events of the match, so Venus is their sole representative for this match.   

Home side Seattle are signified by Mars (lord 7) and Saturn (lord 4).   

Pluto opposes the Part of Fortune, favouring the underdogs, Seattle.  However, although this aspect is still very close, it is already separating (Pluto is retrograde) and is unlikely to have much bearing on the result of the match.

Saturn (lord 4 for Seattle) is placed very close to Neptune. Neptune has proven himself to be a ‘wild card’ in football matches.  He is known to cause upsets, but can be inconsistent in the way he works.  John Frawley notes that, like Pluto and Uranus, he seems to work against the favourites, if he is inclined to work at all.   Here Saturn applies to conjunction with Neptune, but turns retrograde before the aspect perfects (becomes exact), so may be no more relevant to the outcome than Pluto’s opposition with the Part of Fortune. However, Neptune may yet cast an air of mystery and unpredictability over the match.

According to the bookies, Atletico Madrid are the likely winners, but Neptune and Pluto could bring a few surprises, if they feel so inclined.

Manchester City are odds-on favourites to win this Group G match against Wydad AC (or Wydad Casablanca).  As the favourites, they are signified by Mercury (ruler of the 1^st and 10^th houses). 

The ruler of the opposing 7^th and 4^th houses, Jupiter, represents their opponents Wydad AC. 

The placement of the Part of Fortune (in the 10^th house, the house of victory for the favourites) follows the progress of the Moon’s phases and is therefore the same every lunar month.  For this reason, the proximity of the Part of Fortune to the 10^th house cusp does not signify.   

More significant is the placement of the antiscion of Mercury which, as ruler of the 1^st and 10^th house, represents the favourites.  At 12 Gemini 05, the antiscion of Mercury is conjunct the 10^th house cusp, a strong testimony in favour of the favourites.   

In the absence of any other testimonies, this chart looks highly favourable for Manchester City.

The local date, time and place for this match is:  Lumen Field, Seattle at 12pm (PT) on 17th June 2025.  

In this Group E match, River Plate are odds-on favourites to win against opponents Urawa Red Diamonds.   

River Plate are signified by Mercury, lord of the 1^st and 10^th houses. Mercury is also dispositor of the Part of Fortune, but his role as lord of the 1^st house takes precedence.  

Urawa Red Diamonds are represented by Jupiter, lord of the 7^th and 4^th houses.   

The Moon applying to conjunct the 7^th house cusp is a strong testimony for Urawa Red Diamonds, whilst the Moon’s only other aspect (over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for 90-degree football matches) is a sextile to Mercury, main significator of the favourites, River Plate.   

With two very strong but conflicting testimonies, one for each team, a draw cannot be ruled out.  If this is not the case, the victory is likely to go to the team favoured by the Moon’s final aspect (her sextile to Mercury) which are the favourites, River Plate.

The favourite team in this match is a matter of dispute.  The U.K. bookies have Chelsea as favourites to win over Los Angeles, but the odds suggest the match is likely to be close.   

The Moon (ruler of the 10^th house, the house of victory for the favourites) already has a role describing the flow of events, so Chelsea have just one significator for this match, Venus (the ruler of the 1^st house).

Los Angeles are represented by Mars (ruler of the 7^th house) and Saturn (ruler of the 4^th house, the house of victory for the underdogs).   

The antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 11 Cancer 59) is conjunct the 10th house cusp: This favours the favourites.  Ideally the aspect would be closer (within 2 degrees), but in the absence of any stronger testimonies, this could prove conclusive.   

If Chelsea truly are the favourites (as the pundits suggest), then it seems likely they will make a good start to the tournament.

This is the tournament’s opening match, and expectations for both teams are running high.  Hosts Inter Miami CF boast a strong side and are hotly tipped to win.   

As favourites, Inter Miami are represented by the ruler of the 1^st house (Jupiter) and the ruler of the 10^th house (the house of victory for the favourites), Venus.   

Rivals Al Ahly are signified by Mercury (ruler of the opposing 7^th house) and Mars (ruler of the 4^th house).   

The Moon seems to agree with the pundits:  Her only aspect (over the 5-degree orb considered most effective in 90-minute football matches) is a sextile to Venus, ruler of the 10^th house, favouring the favourites.   

Jupiter (for Inter Milan) is captured in the 7^th house of their rivals, Al Ahly, but is in a different sign from that on the cusp (Gemini), so this has no relevance to the outcome.  For the same reason (being in a different sign to the Gemini house cusp), Jupiter is not afflicted by combustion with the Sun.   

However, the antiscion of the Sun (at 05 Cancer 51) still has significant role:  With the Part of Fortune in Leo, the Sun is her dispositor.  Jupiter therefore applies to conjunct the dispositor of the Part of Fortune, which is another boon for the favourites.   

Two testimonies favouring the favourites suggest a likely win for Inter Milan.  However, Al Ahly FC are a strong side who have won the CAF Champions League on several occasions:  Even with the stars (and terrestrial stars like Lionel Messi) on their side, Inter Milan would be unwise to underestimate them.

Manchester City are odds-on favourites to win this season’s FA Cup Final against Crystal Palace, and the contest chart for the match appears to agree:  There is only one testimony of sufficient note in this chart, the placement of Venus (lord of the 1^st house, main significator of the favourites) directly on the cusp of the 7^th house (the house of opponents Crystal Palace).   

Were Venus to be placed inside the 7^th house, this would show favourites Manchester City languishing in the power of their rivals, Palace.  However, Venus sitting on the cusp of the 7^th house shows City dominating the game, a sign that they will be the likely victors.   

The game is scheduled to kick off at 4:30pm (BST), by which time the Moon* will have just separated from an opposition with the antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 21 Cancer 52).  This opposition aspect would have favoured the underdogs (Crystal Palace) but by the time the game begins the aspect will already be in the past, a sign that Palace have done well to get to the final, but have probably achieved as much as they can, at least for this season.   

There is only one lunar aspect of note, an applying sextile to Saturn, ruler of the 4^th house. As the 4^th house is the house of victory for the underdogs, this testimony would favour Crystal Palace.  However, the aspect is just outside the 5–6-degree limit considered most reliable for 90-minute football matches, suggesting that Palace might rally in the latter stages of the game, but unless the amount of extra time available is considerable, their efforts are likely to be ‘too little, too late’.
