Astrological Football Forecast for the Premier League: 5th April 2025 Everton vs Arsenal

At the time of writing, Arsenal are in 2nd place in the Premier League, while Everton are in 15th place:  Despite Everton’s home advantage, it seems likely that Arsenal are the favourites to win this Saturday’s fixture at Goodison Park.

Arsenal are represented by the Sun (ruler of the 1st house) and Mars (ruler of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites).

Hosts and rivals Everton are signified by Saturn (ruler of the opposing 7th house) and Venus (ruler of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs).

In contest charts, the Moon’s aspects often highlight to key events of the match.  She first applies to a trine with Saturn, ruler of the 7th house.  This is a positive testimony for Everton.

The Moon next applies to conjunct Mars (ruler of the 1st house) an even more powerful testimony for favourites, Arsenal.

In his book “Sports Astrology”, John Frawley observes that bodily conjunctions from the Moon are usually final, so this lunar conjunction with Mars should be sufficient to award victory to Arsenal. However, it is interesting to note that the Moon makes one final aspect over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable when forecasting 90-minute football matches; a trine to Venus (ruler of the 4th house); an otherwise promising testimony for Everton.

At the very least, this suggests a much closer result than many pundits are expecting.

Arsenal remain the likely winners but must remain vigilant throughout the entire game: The lunar aspect to Venus points to key opportunities for Everton in the second half of the match, which will allow them to remain a danger to Arsenal up until the final whistle.

FA Cup Quarter Final Special: Saturday 29th March 2025 Brighton and Hove Albion vs Nottingham Forest

According to the pundits, Brighton are odds-on favourites this afternoon’s FA Cup Quarter Final at Amex Stadium.  Brighton have the support of the home crowd, and have played well in recent matches, winning 6 of their last 7 games.

Forest, who are placed 3rd in the table to Brighton’s 7th, have drawn their last 10 matches, suggesting their form is not as strong as earlier in the season, when they beat Brighton 7-0.  Furthermore, the absence of key striker Chris Wood, due to a hip injury, is a setback which may take a toll on their attacking strategy.

So, although their 3rd place in the League Table suggests Forest are the stronger team, this assessment may be based on past glories. The results of recent matches point to Brighton as the stronger team going into today’s match.

The favourites are signified by Mercury, ruler of the 1st and 10th houses.  Mercury is currently retrograde.  In contest charts, this does not usually affect the result.  Nor does Mercury’s imminent arrival in Pisces, the sign of his detriment, or the house placement of the South and North Nodes, despite their proximity to the 1st and 7th house cusps.

More significantly, Mercury (although separating from combustion) is still close enough to the Sun to feel the detrimental effects. This is challenging for the favourites.

Mercury (Lord 1) opposes the Part of Fortune.  This would point to a win for the underdogs, but the aspect is already separating and refers to past glories, not future results.

Venus is the dispositor of the Part of Fortune.  At 01 Libra 20, the antiscion of Venus is conjunct the Part of Fortune, which would usually be positive for the favourites.  However, Venus is retrograde, so this aspect is separating, and therefore has no bearing on the result.

So far, we have a lot of separating aspects, which describe the recent form for both teams, but less which throws light on today’s game.  We must look to the aspects of the Moon, which more often provide the key to the results of contest matches than any other testimonies.

The Moon applies to sextile Jupiter, her only aspect over 5 degrees.  This favours victory for the underdogs.

The bigger question revolves around which team are the favourites and which are the underdogs.

Nottingham are placed higher in the table than Brighton, which is a strong argument for them being the better team and the favourites, unless recent form is considered. This would be good news for underdogs Brighton.

However, if the pundits are correct, and Brighton are the favourites, Nottingham Forest are the underdogs and are likely to show an improvement in form and have a chance to repeat their victory over Brighton earlier in the season.

Either way, this match promises to be closely fought, with strong performances from both sides.

Astrological Football Forecast for League Two: 22nd March 2025 Notts County vs Crewe Alexandria

Currently placed 5th in the table to Crewe’s 8th, Notts County are odds-on favourites for a home win this Saturday. But do the heavens agree?

The Sun (ruler of the 1st house) represents the favourites, Notts County. They also have Mars (ruler of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites) as their co-significator.

Rivals Crewe Alexandria are signified solely by Saturn (ruler of the opposing 7th house), as Venus (ruler of the 4th house) is already spoken for as dispositor of the Part of Fortune.

Saturn applies to conjunct the North Node: Were Saturn closer to the North Node (within 1-2 degrees), this would be a powerful boost for Crewe, but here the orb of aspect is too wide.

The Moon’s applying aspects describe how the game will unfold.  She first squares Venus, ruler of the 4th house: This would also be a powerful testimony for underdogs Crewe, were not Venus also the dispositor of the Part of Fortune. As such, this lunar aspect has no relevance to the outcome.

The Moon’s next aspect, a trine to the Part of Fortune, is the last lunar aspect (over the 5-degree orb considered most effective for 90-minute football matches) pointing to a good result for the favourites, Notts County.

EFL (Carabao) Cup Special: Sunday 16th March 2025 Liverpool vs Newcastle United

Currently top of the Premier League, Liverpool are the odds-on favourites to win this Sunday’s EFL/Carabao Cup final at Wembley.  They are signified by Mercury, lord of the 1st and 10th houses.  Jupiter, lord of the 7th and 4th houses, represents rivals Newcastle United.

The Moon, whose major aspects describe how the match will unfold, is void of course (she makes no further aspects in her current sign of Libra).  In sporting contests, this often heralds a match with few surprises:  The status quo will be maintained, and a win for the favourites is the most likely outcome.

Mercury is retrograde, but this is not a setback in contest charts, especially as he applies to conjunct the Part of Fortune, a strong testimony for the favourites.  Venus intercedes between Mercury and the Part of Fortune, preventing a bodily (exact) conjunction, but she ‘collects the light’ of both, bringing Mercury and the Part of Fortune together through her influence.

Overall, the prospects look excellent for the favourites:  All things being equal, Liverpool fans should have much to celebrate on Sunday evening.

Post-match report 16th March 2025: The result was Liverpool-1 Newcastle-2, with Newcastle dominating the action to bring to an end a 70-year trophy wait. Mistakes can be valuable teachers, as in this case, where I failed to notice that Venus was also about to turn retrograde. There will be no conjunction with retrograde Mercury before Venus leaves Aries and re-enters the sign of Pisces, hence no ‘collection of light’ between Mercury and the Part of Fortune, which was the major testimony for a Liverpool win in my original forecast. In his book ‘Sports Astrology’, John Frawley states that it is crucial to make sure the aspect actually happens: The chart for this match is the perfect demonstration of why this advice is so important!

Astrological Football Forecast for the Premier League: 8th March 2025 Brentford vs Aston Villa

At the time of writing, the pundits favour Brentford, whose recent form is slightly better than their rivals (Brentford have won 3 games out of 5, whilst Villa have won 2). Nevertheless, this promises to be a very close contest, in which Brentford will be hoping that home crowd support will cheer them to victory.

As favourites, Brentford are signified by Mercury, ruler of the 1st and 10th houses (the 1st house represents the favourites, whilst the 10th house signifies their hopes of victory).

Their rivals, Aston Villa, are represented by Jupiter, ruler of the 7th and 4th houses.

The Moon (whose aspects decide the results of more matches than any other testimonies) makes no aspects to either Mercury or Jupiter over the 5-degree orb considered most effective for a 90-minute football match, so we must look elsewhere in this chart.

Jupiter (Aston Villa) placed just inside the 10th house (Brentford) is highly positive for Brentford.  If Jupiter had been directly on the cusp, this would have favoured Villa, showing them dominating Brentford’s hopes of victory.  However, Jupiter placed inside the 10th house, (even so close to the cusp), depicts Aston Villa in the power of their rivals.

If the pundits are correct and Brentford truly are the favourites, this testimony should be powerful enough to award victory to the home team.

Astrological Football Forecast for the FA Cup fifth-round: 3rd March 2025 Nottingham Forest vs Ipswich Town

This season, the form of both teams has been unreliable, but Nottingham Forest (3rd in the Premiership at the time of writing) have the home advantage and are considered favourites to win.  They are represented by Venus (ruler of the 1st house).  They have no co-significator for this game as the Moon (ruler of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites) already has a key role describing the events of the match.

Mars, ruler of the opposing 7th house and Saturn, ruler of the 4th house represent their opponents Ipswich Town.

Venus (1st house ruler) is placed inside the 7th house.  If Venus were closer to the cusp (within 1-2 degrees) this would be detrimental to Forest’s hopes of victory, depicting them in the power of their opponents.  However, Venus is retrograde and moving further closer towards the 7th house cusp, which makes her placement worthy of note, despite the testimony not being conclusive.

Over the 5-degrees orb considered most effective for a 90-minute football match, the Moon makes just one aspect; a square to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune at 08 Aquarius 52.  This favours Ipswich Town.

Aspects of the Moon to the Part of Fortune or the antiscion of the Part of Fortune are often conclusive. In his book “Sports Astrology” John Frawley notes that it is often unnecessary to take the Moon past one of these aspects, as they are so powerful:  The heavens suggest that Ipswich may play better than expected and have cause to celebrate on Monday evening.

Astrological Football Forecast for the Premier League: 22nd February 2025 Aston Villa vs Chelsea

Placed 6th in the table to Aston Villa’s 9th, Chelsea are the most likely favourites to win this Saturday. However, there remains a question mark over their current form.

Aston Villa have been playing well at home this season, and with both sides vying for a place in the league top four the match is expected to be closely fought.

As favourites, Chelsea are signified by Mercury (ruler of the 1st house) and Venus (ruler of the 10th house; the house of victory for the favourites).

Jupiter, ruler of the 7th house, represents rivals Aston Villa, who have Mars (lord of the 4th house) as their co-significator.

The Moon applies to oppose the Part of Fortune; a strong testimony for underdogs Aston Villa.

Uranus applies to the cusp of the 10th house, potentially disrupting the favourite team’s hopes of victory:  This adds to the testimonies against Chelsea and further favours Aston Villa.

After her opposition to the Part of Fortune, the Moon makes one more aspect in her current sign of Sagittarius; a square to Neptune.  As the Moon has just over one degree to travel before perfecting this aspect, it is worthy of note.  Neptune works inconsistently in contest charts but can also be disruptive and unpredictable. With both Uranus and Neptune in play, one thing is certain:  This match will have a few surprises in store.

If the pundits are correct (and Chelsea truly are the favourites), this chart suggests better fortunes for Aston Villa.  However, the teams are well matched and a draw cannot be ruled out.

Astrological Football Forecast for the Premier League: 15th February 2025 Crystal Palace vs Everton

Having won five of their last six games, and in possession of the home advantage, Crystal Palace are favourites to win this Saturday.  However, rivals Everton are also on fine form and the match is expected to be close.

As favourites, Palace are signified by the Sun (lord of the 1st house) and Venus (lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites).  Everton are represented by Saturn, (ruler of the opposing 7th house) and Mars (lord of the 4th house).

The Sun, ruler of the 1st house and main significator for the favourites, is in the 7th house, placed very close to the 7th house cusp.  This is very bad for Palace, as it shows them in the power of their rivals. This testimony is strong enough to give Everton the advantage, unless counteracted by other indications in the chart.

The Moon opposes the Part of Fortune.  This would also favour the underdogs, Everton, were the aspect not already separating: In contest charts, separating aspects have little bearing on the match result.

Venus (ruler of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites) is close to the Part of Fortune.  This would be a powerful testimony for Crystal Palace, but this aspect is also separating and therefore more relevant to Palace’s past performance than any future result.

More hopeful for Palace is the Moon’s applying opposition to Venus (lord of the 10th house).  The Moon must travel just under 5 degrees to perfect this aspect with Venus.  In 90 minute football matches, aspects must be within 5 degrees to be reliable, suggesting a late opportunity for Palace to loosen Everton’s grip on the game.

Overall, the heavens agree with the pundits:  This match will be very closely fought.  The chart favours Everton.  With their main significator (the Sun) captured in Everton’s house (the 7th house) a win for favourites Palace is unlikely, but the late lunar aspect to Venus suggests a draw is possible.

Superbowl Special: Superbowl 2025 Philadelphia Eagles vs Kansas City Chiefs

Please Note:  Chart is cast for scheduled kickoff local time 17:30 CST (18:30 EST, 15:30 West Coast Time and 23:30 GMT)

Will favourites the Kansas City Chiefs make this their third consecutive Superbowl win or do the heavens (and opponents the Philadelphia Eagles) have other plans?

As favourites, the Chiefs are awarded the 1st house and its ruler.  If the game kicks off on time, the sign rising will be Leo, making the Sun the main significator for the Chiefs.  They will also be represented by Venus, ruler of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites).

Saturn, ruler of the opposing 7th house, is main representative for the Philadelphia Eagles, with Mars (ruler of the 4th house) taking the role of co-significator.

The Sun (for the Chiefs) is very badly placed in this chart.  In the 7th house, just below the 7th house cusp, the Sun shows that the Eagles will have the Chiefs in their power.

In the absence of any equally strong testimony in favour of the Chiefs, this unfortunate placement of their main significator suggests a possible upset, and cause for the Eagles to celebrate.

However, the game may start late (a not unlikely occurrence for the Superbowl).  If the match kicks off after 18:21 PM CST (19:21 EST, 16:21 West Coast Time or 00:21 10th February 2025 GMT) the sign rising will change from Leo to Virgo:

Mercury will then step in as ruler of the 1st house and main significator of the Chiefs, with Venus (ruler of the 10th house) retaining her role as co-significator.

Jupiter, traditional ruler of Pisces) will be the new ruler of the 7th house and main significator of the Eagles, whilst Mars (4th house) remains their co-significator.

At first glance, this looks better for the Chiefs, as in this new chart, Mercury is not placed in the 7th house, releasing the Chiefs from the power of the Eagles.

However, Mercury is combust (within 8 degrees of the Sun), itself a serious debility.  This chart also appears to favour the fortunes of the Eagles.

The last chart we will consider is cast for the eventuality that the game kicks off over an hour later than scheduled, at 18:31 CST, (17:31 EST, 16:31 West Coast Time and 00:31 on 10th February 2025 GMT).

This does not change the signs on the 1st and 7th house cusps (Virgo and Pisces respectively) but gives new rulers to the 10th and 4th houses. With Gemini on the Midheaven and Sagittarius on the 4th house cusp, the Chiefs and the Eagles have just one planetary significator each:  Mercury for the Chiefs and Jupiter for the Eagles.

Otherwise, little changes:  Mercury (for the Chiefs) is still combust and therefore severely debilitated.  Despite the Chiefs being widely regarded as the favourites, each of these three charts favour their opponents, the Eagles.

Astrological Football Forecast for the Premier League: Monday 20th January 2025 Chelsea vs Wolverhampton Wanderers

This chart is cast for the Premier League match between Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers, which is due to kick off at 20:00 (8pm) GMT/UST on Monday 20th January 2025 at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea

In John Frawley’s system for forecasting contest charts, the 1st house and its ruler is awarded to the team considered to be the favourites. This is not necessarily the home team.

However, in this match, hosts Chelsea enjoy both the advantage of a home crowd and the confidence of the pundits:  Despite their recent lacklustre form and current injury worries, Chelsea are placed 5th in the Premiership to Wolves’ 17th place and are expected to win easily.  But do the heavens agree?

In this chart, Chelsea are awarded Mercury (ruler of the 1st house and also the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites).

Jupiter, ruler of the 7th house and the 4th house (the house of victory for the underdogs) signifies their opponents, Wolves.

Jupiter (for Wolves) is in the 10th house (one of the houses representing Chelsea).  Were Jupiter nearer to the 10th house cusp (within 2-3 degrees) this would depict Wolves in the power of Chelsea. However, even applying retrograde closer to the 10th house cusp, Jupiter is too far away for this to signify.

The same rules apply to the antiscion of Chelsea’s significator, Mercury:  At 11 Sagittarius 33, the antiscion of Mercury is in one of the houses representing Wolves (the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs).  However, he is too far away from the house cusp for his placement to represent any serious affliction to Chelsea’s hopes for success.

Potentially more significant is the opposition of Pluto to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 01 Leo 57).  John Frawley has observed that Pluto causes problems for the favourites, so Pluto’s opposition could represent a serious obstacle for Chelsea.

Pluto is combust (within 8 degrees of the Sun), which is a serious affliction.  Whether this will mitigate or increase Pluto’s baleful influence remains to be seen.  Either way, it seems likely that Wolves will prove stronger opposition than the pundits expect, and a win for Chelsea is far from guaranteed.
