Women’s World Cup: 25th July 2023 Columbia vs South Korea

As favourites, South Korea are signified by Mercury, ruler of the 1st and 10th houses (the 10th is the house of victory for the favourites).

Jupiter, ruler of the opposing 7th and 4th houses, represents Columbia.

The proximity of Mercury to the Part of Fortune is a powerful testimony of victory for favourites South Korea.

The antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 08 Taurus 40) is placed near to Jupiter (for Columbia) but not quite close enough for this testimony to be significant.

The Moon describes the progression of events during the match:  She applies first to sextile the antiscion of Jupiter at 18 Leo 10 (a minor testimony for Columbia), then sextiles the Part of Fortune and Mercury; both stronger testimonies for favourites South Korea.

There is a possibility of goals for both sides, but the likely winner will be South Korea.

Women’s World Cup: 23rd July 2023 France vs Jamaica

The pundits favour France to win, so they are represented by Jupiter (lord of the 1st and 10th house).

Mercury, lord of the opposing 7th and 4th houses, signifies Jamaica.

The Part of Fortune is placed very close to Jupiter, a strong testimony for France. This, in the absence of any other testimonies, would point to a clear victory for France.

However, the antiscion of Mercury (at 09 Taurus 14) is placed even closer to the Part of Fortune. The symbolism is clear: Jamaica stands between France and victory.

This promises to be a closely fought game: A win for Jamaica is very possible.

Women’s World Cup: 22nd July 2023 England vs Haiti

As favourites, England are represented by Saturn (lord of the 1st house) and Mars (lord of the 10th house, victory for the favourites).

Rivals Haiti have the Sun and Venus (lords of the opposing 7th and 4th houses respectively).

Venus (4th house ruler) sits on the cusp of the 7th house. This is a positive testimony for Haiti, who should be in fine form for their opening game of the tournament.

The antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 10 Virgo 19) is just close enough to Mars to be significant, and (in the absence of any stronger testimonies) may just edge the game in favour of England.

However, this match promises to be a closer contest than the pundits expect, and a draw cannot be ruled out.

Women’s World Cup: 21st July 2023 Nigeria vs Canada

Placed second in Group C, Canada are odds-on favourites to win their first tournament fixture against Nigeria in Melbourne. But do the heavens agree?

As favourites, Canada are represented by Mars (lord of the 1st house).

The Moon (lord of the 10th house; victory for the favourites) already has a role tracking the progress of events so her dispositor, Mercury stands in as Canada’s co-significator.

Nigeria, placed 3rd in their group, are represented by Venus (lord of the opposing 7th house) and Saturn, (lord of the 4th house).

The Moon first applies to oppose Saturn. Despite the challenging nature of this aspect, this is a fortunate testimony for Nigeria. They will prove a force to be reckoned with: Expect goals from both sides in this match.

Venus (representing Nigeria) placed in the 10th house (victory for Canada), favours Canada.

The Moon next applies to conjunct Mars, another powerful testimony for the favourites. Since conjunctions from the Moon are usually decisive in contest charts, this aspect signals victory for Canada.

Women’s World Cup 2023: 20th July 2023 New Zealand vs Norway

Norway are favoured to win the opening match of the tournament, when these two Group A sides meet in Auckland, New Zealand.

As favourites, Norway are signified by Saturn (lord of the 1st house) and Mars (lord of the 10th house; victory for the favourites).

Rivals and hosts New Zealand are represented by the Sun (lord of the opposing 7th house) and Venus (lord of the 4th house; victory for the underdogs).

The most significant aspect here is the applying conjunction from the Moon (which describes the progress of events) to Venus (lord 4); a powerful testimony for New Zealand.

In his book “Sports Astrology” John Frawley observes that conjunctions from the Moon are usually conclusive in contest charts, suggesting the home crowd will have cause to celebrate.

Euro 2024 Group A Qualifier: Saturday 17th June 2023 – Norway vs Scotland

At the time of writing, Scotland sit at the top of Group A, whilst Norway have yet to win a match. Despite this, the pundits favour Norway to be victors in Oslo this weekend.

As favourites, Norway are represented by Mars, Lord 1, and the Sun (Lord 10, victory for the favourites).

Scotland are signified by Venus (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and Saturn (Lord 4, victory for the underdogs).

The South Node in the 1st house is a strong debility for the favourites, and Norway’s performance is likely to be below par. However, the South Node will not have a dominating influence over their game, as it would if it were placed on the 1st house cusp.

The North Node in the 7th house is a boon for Scotland, who will continue to play well, as they have throughout these qualifiers.

Mars applies to closely conjunct the 10th house cusp: A positive testimony for favourites Norway.

The Moon describes how events will unfold during the match: First, she applies to trine the Part of Fortune (for the favourites).

Next, she moves to a trine with the antiscion of Saturn Lord 4 (at 22 Libra 48, for the underdogs), before finally making a conjunction with the Sun (ruler of the 10th house of victory) concluding the match for the favourites.

To perfect her conjunction with the Sun, the Moon will need to travel slightly further than the 5 degrees usually considered reliable for a 90-minute football match. The deciding goal for the favourites is likely to occur in extra time.

Despite a strong performance from their rivals, the favourites look set to win. If the pundits are correct, and Norway truly are the favourites, they will be the team celebrating this Saturday.

FA Cup Final 3rd June 2023: Manchester City vs Manchester United

Manchester City’s convincing 3-0 win over Sheffield United in the FA Cup Semi-Finals has made them favourites to win the Final at Wembley this Saturday. But do the heavens agree?

Favourites Manchester City are signified by Venus (lord of the 1st house). The Moon, lord of the 10th house (victory for the favourites), already has a key role as significator of events, so her dispositor Jupiter steps in as Manchester City’s co-significator.

Mars, lord of the opposing 7th house, signifies rivals Manchester United. Saturn, lord of the 4th house (victory for the underdogs) is their co-significator.

The Moon, who describes the progress of events during the match, first applies to square Saturn (for Manchester United) and next trines Mars (another testimony for Manchester United).

Jupiter, co-significator for Manchester City, is closely conjunct the North Node. This is a powerful testimony for the favourites.

We have two lunar testimonies for Manchester United, and one (admittedly very powerful) testimony for favourites Manchester City: In this Manchester-dominated FA Cup Final, City will play well, but United look to have the edge.

Championship Play-Off Final 27th May 2023: Coventry City vs Luton Town

Coventry City face Luton Town at Wembley this Saturday, for the Championship League play-off final. Luton Town are currently 3rd in the table, compared to Coventry City’s 5th place, and are favoured by the pundits to move up to the Premiership.

Venus (lord 1) represents favourites Luton. As the Moon, ruler of the 10th house (victory for the favourites) already has an important role as significator of events, her dispositor Mercury steps in as their co-significator.

Coventry City are represented by Mars, ruler of the opposing 7th house. Saturn, ruler of the 4th house (victory for the underdogs) is Coventry’s co-significator.

Mars (for Coventry) is placed in the 10th house but is too far from the house cusp (over 2 degrees) and in a different sign, so this testimony is not significant.

The Moon, significator of events, immediate applies to trine Saturn: This is highly positive for Coventry.

She next applies to trine Mercury, an aspect which favours Luton.

With testimonies so evenly balanced, we need something else to tip the balance in favour of one team or another.

Venus (lord 1) opposes the Part of Fortune. This aspect favours Luton and (if pundits are correct that Luton are the favourites) is highly likely to be their ticket to the Premiership.

Premier League Sunday 21st May 2023: Manchester City vs Chelsea

Currently placed at the top of the table, Manchester City are favourites to win Sunday’s match at Etihad Stadium. But do the stars agree?

As favourites, Venus (lord of the 1st house) represents the favourites (Manchester City). The Moon, lord of the 10th house (victory for the favourites) already has a key role as significator of events, so her dispositor (Mercury) is called from the substitute’s bench to step in as co-significator for Manchester City.

Mars, (lord of the opposing 7th house) and Saturn (lord of the 4th house; victory for the underdogs) represent Chelsea.

Venus is in the 10th house, placed very close to the 10th house cusp. This testimony for the favourites would be stronger if Venus were 2 to 3 degrees closer to the cusp, but it is highly positive, nonetheless.

The antiscion of the Moon (at 06 Cancer 30), placed even closer to the 10th house cusp, is another significant testimony for the favourites.

In the absence of any corresponding testimonies for Chelsea, the heavens appear to agree with the pundits: A win for Manchester City is the most likely outcome.

Premier League Saturday 13th May 2023: Leeds vs Newcastle

With favourites Newcastle 4th in the table, and Leeds facing the prospect of relegation, the outcome of this Saturday’s fixture at Elland Road seems a forgone conclusion. But do the heavens agree?

As favourites, Newcastle are represented by the Sun (Lord 1) and Venus (Lord of the 10th house; victory for the favourites).

Rivals Leeds are signified by Saturn (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and Mars (Lord of the 4th house; victory for the underdogs).

In his book “Sports Astrology” John Frawley notes that the Moon’s aspects decide the greatest proportion of contest charts.

Here the Moon applies to a conjunction with Saturn (Lord 7, for Leeds) at 06 Pisces 12. Bodily conjunctions from the Moon are usually enough to win the match: Contrary to expectations, could Leeds be celebrating this Saturday?

However, the Moon next trines Venus (at 06 Cancer 24). In this chart, Venus represents victory for the favourites, so this is an extremely positive testimony for Newcastle.

The closeness of these two lunar aspects (the conjunction and the trine), which occur almost simultaneously, suggest that this chart may offer an exception to the rule that bodily conjunctions from the Moon usually decide the match.

This is an exceptionally fascinating chart. A draw is the least likely outcome, but it will be interesting to see which lunar aspect is stronger and whether Leeds or Newcastle will emerge victorious.
