Astrological Football Predictions for Spurs vs Newcastle and Manchester City vs Leicester City

Spurs are odds-on favourites to win against visitors Newcastle this Sunday, but do the heavens agree? The Moon, who so often decides these contests, makes no aspects of significance with the exception of a late opposition to Venus. This might be seen as favourable for Spurs, were it not that Venus’ role as dispositor of the Part of Fortune takes precedence over her rulership of the 10th house (victory for the favourites). This opposition is immediately followed by a sextile to retrograde Mars, strongly placed in his own sign of Aries. As Mars rules the 4th house (victory for the underdogs) the cause of Newcastle is favoured, especially as Mars is also applying to conjunct the 4th house cusp, lending his strength to Newcastle’s house of victory. Overall, this chart is far from conclusive, but there should be goals for both sides. With the comparatively wide orb between the Moon and any significant aspects, expect a much busier second half, with Newcastle’s chances of victory increasing greatly in the latter minutes of the game, especially if extra time is played.

In Sunday afternoon’s match between Manchester City and Leicester City, the Moon’s opposition to Venus (Lady of the 4th house; victory to the underdogs) promises at least one goal for The Foxes. However, the following lunar sextile to retrograde Mars (Lord 10; victory for the favourites) is a powerful testimony for Manchester, especially combined with the added strength of Mars’ retrograde square to Saturn (Lord of the Ascendant and primary significator of the favourites), which describes victory (Mars, Lord 10) going to the Manchester City (Saturn, Lord of the Ascendant). As with the previous match between Spurs and Newcastle, expect both teams to score, with a busier second half and some crucial late goals!

Astrological Football Predictions for Everton vs West Bromwich Albion, Manchester United vs Crystal Palace and Arsenal vs West Ham

In charts for football matches, the Moon’s movement is usually key in determining the victor as she represents the progress of events and can often signify goals scored. In our first match of the weekend, the Moon’s immediate opposition to retrograde Mars (ruler of the Ascendant) marks an early lead for favourites, Everton. It has been observed that retrograde movement of a planet seems to have little effect on the performance of the team it represents, so the early aspect of the Moon to Mars combined with a lack of significant testimonies for opponents West Bromwich Albion should award Everton the match.

The bookies have proclaimed Manchester United odds-on favourites to win Saturday afternoon’s match against Crystal Palace, a verdict with which the heavens agree: The Moon is void of course (she makes no further aspects wherein the sign she is placed). Nor is she in a sign (Cancer, Taurus, Sagittarius or Pisces) which would give her additional powers to perform. In any case, the Moon makes no immediate aspects to significant planets in the sign she is about to enter (Scorpio), with the possible exception of a trine to the Part of Fortune which also favours the favourites. With the void of course Moon in full effect, the status quo will be maintained: The favourites at the start of the match will be the winners when the final whistle blows.

In the chart for Saturday evening’s match between Arsenal and West Ham, the Moon immediately applies to the cusp of the 7th house; providing significant assistance to the cause of underdogs West Ham. The only other testimony of note, a sextile from the Moon to the antiscion of Mars (ruler of the the 7th house) at 02 Virgo 35, also favours The Irons (or Hammers). Although not conclusive, this chart hints at disappointment for favourites Arsenal and an upset for the bookies.

Astrological Football Predictions for Liverpool vs Leeds and Spurs vs Everton

The start of a new season is a time of hope and expectation, when every football fan allows themselves to daydream, however briefly, of their beloved team winning the ultimate prize. The bookies, however, are not so egalitarian: There must always be a favourite, and in our first featured match this is unequivocally Liverpool. But do the heavens agree?

As favourites, Liverpool are signified by the 1st house (22 Capricorn 50 ascends) and the 1st house ruler, Saturn (25 Capricorn 33). Pluto glowers on the ascendant, a caution that this match may not be the easy win for Liverpool the odds suggest. However, his baleful influence is parried by Saturn (Lord of the 1st house), strong in his own sign and house, and placed close enough to the ascendant to make a difference.

What of their rivals, Leeds? As the opponents of the favourites, they would usually be signified by the ruler of the 7th house. But with Cancer on the 7th house cusp, and 7th ruler the Moon already occupied as significator of the the progress of events, they have just one planet to represent them, Venus (ruler of the 4th house; victory for the underdogs) at 07 Leo 00. Unfortunately, Venus is peregrine (she lacks strength in the sign and degree where she is placed), makes no significant aspects, and can do little to avail their cause.

The Moon’s immediate application to trine the Part of Fortune (19 Scorpio 39) is a positive testimony for favourites Liverpool, but her next aspect, a sextile to to the antiscion of Venus (at 23 Taurus 00) inclines to favour the cause of Leeds, as does the following opposition to Pluto. Liverpool should take an early lead, but Leeds will also score. The Moon’s final opposition to Saturn, favours Liverpool, but the width of orb suggests that Liverpool’s best chances of victory will occur in the latter stages of the game, perhaps in extra time.

On to Sunday, and in the chart for our next featured match between favourites Spurs and their opponents Everton, Pluto and Saturn (both key players on Saturday) are now too far from the ascendant to figure strongly in the result.

The Moon at in a late degree of the sign wherein she is placed would usually be considered void-of-course, maintaining the current status of both teams and auguring victory for the favourites. However, this being her own sign of Cancer, of which William Lilly writes; “yet somewhat she performs if void of course and be either in Taurus, Cancer, Sagittarius or Pisces”; the Moon has greater power to act. She needs to travel slightly over 8 degrees to make a conjunction to Venus (at 08 Leo 04), an aspect which Lilly would consider just within the moiety of both planets. As Venus rules the 4th house (victory for the underdogs), and conjunctions are usually conclusive, this could indicate an upset for the bookies and potential victory for Everton.

As always, the proof of astrological prediction is the result, and it will be interesting to test this theory regarding the void of course Moon on Sunday!
