At the time of writing Liverpool are placed second in the Table, just in front of their FA Cup rivals Chelsea in third: The competition could scarcely be closer, and a hard-fought battle is anticipated. 

Pundits and bookmakers alike favour Liverpool to win, but do the heavens agree? 

Favourites Liverpool are awarded the 1^st house and its ruler Venus (at 13 Aries 45). In this match, Venus is their sole significator as the 10^th house (victory for the favourites) is ruled by the Moon who is already spoken for in her role as significator of events.  

Venus is in Aries, the sign of her detriment. This is of minor significance in a sporting contest: A team can still win without being at top form or on their best behaviour.  

However, Venus’ placement, just inside the cusp of the opposing 7^th house (representing Chelsea) could prove crucial. If Venus had been placed on or just above the 7^th house cusp, this would have shown Chelsea in the power of Liverpool. However, with Liverpool’s main significator just inside the 7^th house cusp, the reverse is shown: The fortunes of Liverpool are very much in the hands of their rivals.   

The close conjunction of the Part of Fortune with Mars, (7^th house ruler and main significator of Chelsea) adds to Liverpool’s woes, as does the impending conjunction between the Moon and the antiscion of Saturn (Lord of the 4^th house, victory for the underdogs) at 05 Scorpio 07.  

With a lack of any corresponding testimonies in support of the favourites, it looks as if the underdogs will carry the day.  

If the pundits and bookmakers have correctly named Liverpool as the favourites, all indications are that Chelsea will be lifting the Cup this Saturday at Wembley.

Future FA Cup finalists Liverpool are favourites for this Saturday’s fixture against Spurs at Anfield. Will their performance justify the confidence of the pundits, and what do the heavens have to say? 

Mars, ruler of the 1^st house is main significator of favourites Liverpool. Their rivals Spurs are represented by Venus, the ruler of the opposing 7^th house.  

The Sun (ruler of the 10^th house, victory for the favourites) and Saturn (Lord of the 4^th house, victory for the underdogs) are secondary significators for Liverpool and Spurs respectively. 

The Moon, who describes the progress of events during the match, applies to trine Venus. As this is the only aspect to any team significator over the 5-degree orb usually effective in a 90-minute football match, this is an important vote of confidence for Spurs. 

Saturn’s placement in Aquarius, the sign he traditionally rules, and just inside the cusp of the 4^th house (victory for the underdogs) promises a spirited performance from Spurs. But more importantly, the antiscion of Saturn (at 5 Scorpio 24) is placed just above the cusp of the 1st house, showing favourites Liverpool in the power of their rivals.

Although not strong enough to determine the result, Pluto’s applying retrograde conjunction with the Part of Fortune adds further weight to the other testimonies in favour of Spurs: Pluto, John Frawley observes in his book “Sports Astrology” appears to hold a grudge against the favourites. 

With no corresponding testimonies in support of the Liverpool, the stars point to victory for the visitors.
