At the time of writing Liverpool are placed second in the Table, just in front of their FA Cup rivals Chelsea in third: The competition could scarcely be closer, and a hard-fought battle is anticipated.
Pundits and bookmakers alike favour Liverpool to win, but do the heavens agree?
Favourites Liverpool are awarded the 1st house and its ruler Venus (at 13 Aries 45). In this match, Venus is their sole significator as the 10th house (victory for the favourites) is ruled by the Moon who is already spoken for in her role as significator of events.
Venus is in Aries, the sign of her detriment. This is of minor significance in a sporting contest: A team can still win without being at top form or on their best behaviour.
However, Venus’ placement, just inside the cusp of the opposing 7th house (representing Chelsea) could prove crucial. If Venus had been placed on or just above the 7th house cusp, this would have shown Chelsea in the power of Liverpool. However, with Liverpool’s main significator just inside the 7th house cusp, the reverse is shown: The fortunes of Liverpool are very much in the hands of their rivals.
The close conjunction of the Part of Fortune with Mars, (7th house ruler and main significator of Chelsea) adds to Liverpool’s woes, as does the impending conjunction between the Moon and the antiscion of Saturn (Lord of the 4th house, victory for the underdogs) at 05 Scorpio 07.
With a lack of any corresponding testimonies in support of the favourites, it looks as if the underdogs will carry the day.
If the pundits and bookmakers have correctly named Liverpool as the favourites, all indications are that Chelsea will be lifting the Cup this Saturday at Wembley.
