The local kick off time for the Women’s Euro Cup Final between England and Spain in Basel, Switzerland is 6pm CET on 27th July 2025. England are the defending European Champions, but Spain’s World Cup-winning side are on such impressive form that they are odds-on favourites to lift the tournament trophy.
As favourites, Spain are represented by Jupiter (lord of the 1st house) and Venus (lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites).
Opponents England are signified by Mercury (ruler of the 7th house) and Mars (ruler of the 4th house).
Mercury (for England) is applying retrograde to conjunct the Sun. This is known as combustion and is a severe debility. Notwithstanding the wide orb, this testimony is unfortunate for the Lionesses.
The Moon’s only significant aspect (over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for 90-minute football matches) is a sextile to Jupiter, which is favourable for Spain.
There is only one testimony in favour of England, a trine to the antiscion of Mercury at 17 Taurus 52. However, this is far outside the 5-degree orb limit and may be pushing hope beyond the bounds of possibility.
The match is expected to be closely fought. The chart inclines towards a win for the favourites, which (at the time of writing) is Spain. A late challenge may be England’s best chance, but only if the game strays far into extra time or penalties.
The outcome of this match may be all in the timing. The first chart is the contest chart set up for 8pm BST (9pm CET) in Zurich, Switzerland.
The chart below is a revised version, set up for a late kickoff. If the match starts at any time upwards of 3 minutes later than scheduled, the ascendant will change from Capricorn to Aquarius, resulting in very different conditions, particularly for the favourites.
Please note: All contest charts are cast for BST, hence the different date and time from that locally advertised.
The local kick off time for the Semi-Final between Germany and Spain in Zurich, Switzerland is 9pm CET on 23rd July 2025.
Spain, who are currently odds-on to win a place in the final, are represented by Saturn: Saturn, as well as being ruler of Capricorn, is the traditional ruler of Aquarius, so rules the 1st house in both charts. Once again, retrograde Saturn will benefit from proximity to retrograde Neptune, who can prove a powerful ally if he feels so inclined.
Germany, as the least favoured team, are signified by the ruler of the 7th house. If the match starts on time, they are without a primary significator as the ruler of the 7th house is the Moon (ruler of Cancer), already has a key role describing the events of the match. The Moon’s dispositor would usually step in as substitute, but the Moon is in her own sign this is not an option.
However, if the kickoff is 3 minutes late or over, the 7th house cusp moves into Leo, and the Sun will represent Germany as their main significator. The Sun is well placed, in his own sign and close to the 7th house cusp: The strong placement of the Sun, Germany’s main significator, does not guarantee they will win, but they will certainly benefit if the match starts slightly later.
The Moon applies to sextile Mars: This is a powerful testimony for Spain if the match starts on time (as Mars rules the 10th house) but a later kickoff will switch Mars’ house rulership from the 10th to the 4th house, altering his allegiance from Spain to Germany.
The Moon’s final aspect (over her usual 5-degree orb of reliability for a 90-minute football match) is often key to the result. Here, her final aspect is a sextile to Venus, ruler of either the 4th house (for Germany, if the match kicks off on time), or the 10th house (for Spain, if the match starts late).
Finally, if the match starts more than 3 minutes late, it will put retrograde Pluto on the cusp of the ascendant. This is very bad news for the favourites Spain, who should do all in their power to ensure the match starts on time.
Summary:
Expect a closely-fought match with goals for both sides.
The Moon’s final aspect (a sextile to Venus) suggests that, if the match starts on time, Germany may exploit a late advantage.
If the kickoff is more than 3 minutes later, Spain can still triumph (especially with retrograde Neptune as their ally), but will have to overcome a challenge from Pluto, who could prove an even tougher opponent than Germany.

The local kick off time for the Semi-Final between England and Italy in Geneva, Switzerland is 9pm CET on 22nd July 2025.
As defending Champions, England are the favourites, but can expect a tough battle with Italy for a place in the Final.
Saturn (lord of the 1st house) and Mars (lord of the 10th house) represent the favourites. Italy has just one significator, Venus (lord of the 4th house): The Moon, ruler of the 7th house is otherwise occupied describing the events of the match, and (as she in in Cancer, the sign she rules) she has no dispositor to nominate as substitute.
The Moon’s only aspect of relevance is a conjunction with the antiscion of Venus at 09 Cancer 38. At over 5-degrees distant, this aspect, which favours Italy, is outside the usual orb of reliability for a 90-minute football match. However, it may come into play should the game include extra time or penalties. England will need to be especially vigilant during the latter stages of the game.
Neptune has been a key player in this tournament. The god of dreams does not usually concern himself with sporting contests but, when retrograde assumes his role of ‘earth-shaker’ and lends great force to the cause of the team he favours: The proximity of retrograde Saturn (lord 1) and retrograde Neptune, although not an exact conjunction, could prove very helpful to England.
And help they will need: The applying conjunction between Mars (lord of the 10th house) and the malefic South Node has potential to be a major-stumbling block. The poison in the Dragon’s Tail certainly thwarted Sweden’s ambitions in their Quarter-final penalty shootout against England on 17th July. Now by a twist of fate, England find themselves facing the same obstacle. (Note added 20th July 2025 – France also fell foul of the baleful influence of the South Node in yesterday evening’s Quarter Final. They were hot favourites to win, but lost to Germany on penalties.)
As with the Quarter-Final between France and Germany, this is the favourite’s game to win or lose: If he feels so inclined, Neptune may prove a powerful ally, but England will also have the powerful debility of the South Node to contend with. Italy’s best chance is likely to present itself in extra time (or penalties).

The local kick off time for this Quarter Final between Sweden and England in Basel, Switzerland is 9pm CET on 19th July 2025.
Both France and Germany are serious contenders to win the tournament, but France have had a perfect run so far, while Germany will need to rally their confidence after a surprise defeat to Sweden last weekend.
At the time of writing, the bookmakers favour France to win: As favourites, they are signified by the ruler of the 1st house, Saturn. Their co-significator is Mars, ruler of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites).
The Moon rules the 7th house (the house of opponents Germany) but has another role which takes priority, describing the events of the match. As the Moon is in Taurus, Venus (ruler of Taurus) is her dispositor, and steps in as substitute significator for Germany. In this match, Germany has no co-significator as the ruler of the 4th house (the house of victory for the underdogs) is also Venus.
All the Women’s Euro Quarter Final matches are scheduled to kick off on consecutive dates at the same time, so they all look remarkably similar. Once again, the main testimonies in this chart relate to Saturn’s proximity to Neptune (both planets retrograde) and Mars’ applying conjunction to the South Node.
The Saturn and Neptune are almost conjunct but, both planets being retrograde, this aspect never perfects. However, it seems to have been close enough to have influence in previous matches and may do so again. The Vedic astrologer Simon Chokoisky, has observed that Neptune (who usually puts a dampener on sporting contests) behaves out of character when retrograde and has a focused, energising effect. If this proves the case here, it will benefit France.
In contrast, Mars’ applying conjunction with the South Node is a great debility, which may have contributed to the fall of Sweden in their penalty shootout against England yesterday. In this match, Mars rules the 10th house, so his conjunction with the South Node is likely to work against France.
To sum up, this chart has two powerful testimonies: One for and one against France. In the absence of any counter indications supporting Germany, this match belongs to France and it is theirs to win or lose.

The local kick off time for this Quarter Final between Sweden and England in Bern, Switzerland is 9pm CET on 18th July 2025.
Spain are odds-on favourites, and hotly tipped to win a place in the semi-finals. But do the heavens agree?
Saturn (lord 1) is sole significator of the favourites (Spain). Mars, who as lord of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites) would be their co-significator, is already spoken for as dispositor of the Part of Fortune.
The Moon’s role describing the events of the match takes priority over all else: When she rules the 7th house (as in this case), her dispositor steps in as main significator for Spain’s opponents, Switzerland. With the Moon in Taurus, her dispositor is Venus. Venus also rules the 4th house (the house of victory for the underdogs), so in this match both teams have just one significator.
This chart is notable for a lack of conclusive testimonies, although retrograde Neptune’s proximity to retrograde Saturn (lord 1) may favour the favourites.
Please note: All contest charts are cast for BST, hence the different date and time from that locally advertised.
The local kick off time for this Quarter Final between Sweden and England in Zurich, Switzerland is 9pm CET on 17th July 2025.
In contest charts, the favourites are usually signified by the rulers of the 1st and 10th house, whilst their rivals are represented by the 7th and 4th house rulers.
Here, Saturn, (ruler of the 1st house), represents the favourites.
Their opponents are usually signified by the ruler of the 7th house but when (as in this case) the Moon rules the 7th house, her dispositor (Mars) steps in to represent them, leaving the Moon free to describe the events of the match.
The role of Venus as dispositor of the Part of Fortune takes precedence over her role as ruler of the 4th house.
This leaves both teams with one planet each, as the ruler of the 10th house (Mars) and the ruler of the 4th house (Venus) are otherwise occupied.
The Moon applies to conjunct the 4th house cusp: This gives a significant boost to the fortunes of the least favoured team.
Retrograde Saturn (lord 1) may receive assistance from his proximity to retrograde Neptune: Simon Chokoisky in his book “Gambler’s Dharma” notes that Neptune is energising when retrograde and has a dampening effect when direct. Here, the conjunction does not perfect, but may still be close enough to influence the fortunes of the favourites for the better.
Mars closely applies to conjunct the South Node. In contest charts, this is a serious debility. Mars is substitute ruler for the 7th house, so his proximity to the South Node is bad news for the underdogs.
At the time of writing, England have the better odds to win. This is unsurprising, as they have a great deal of local support from the English bookies. The reality may be more nuanced: Sweden have yet to lose a match this tournament and finished top of Group C, while England conceded a game to France and finished second in Group D.
England are the defending champions, making them the most likely favourites, but by a much smaller margin than the pundits suggest. Expect a very close match, with a spirited challenge from Sweden. The applying conjunction between Mars and the South Node may prove the key to the result.

The local kick off time for this Quarter Final between Norway and Italy in Geneva, Switzerland is 9pm CET on 16th July 2025
The pundits consider these teams very closely matched, which makes it difficult to pick the favourite. However, at the time of writing, Italy have slightly better odds to win: As the most likely favourites, they are signified by Saturn (lord of the 1st house).
The ruler of the 7th house (the house of rivals Norway) is the Moon. She already has a role describing the flow of events, so her dispositor Mars, (who as lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites, would usually be their co-significator) steps in as main significator for Norway.
Venus (ruler of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs) would usually be co-significator for Norway, but also has another role which takes precedence, that of dispositor of the Part of Fortune.
As a result, each team has just one planet representing them: Saturn for Italy and Mars for Norway.
The Moon applies to conjunct the antiscion of Mars (at 12 Aries 57). Although conjunctions to antiscia are not as reliable as bodily conjunctions, this is a powerful testimony for Norway.
However, there is Neptune to consider. In his book “Gambler’s Dharma” which examines contest charts through the lens of Vedic astrology, Simon Chokoisky observes that Neptune has a dampening influence, unless he is retrograde when he is energising.
Here, Neptune is retrograde and almost conjunct Saturn (lord 1, for Italy). The aspect never perfects, as Saturn is also retrograde. However, the planets are close enough to be worth noting. In the Club World Cup final on 13th July 2025, Neptune certainly a powerful ally to Chelsea who, despite being the underdogs, trounced favourites Paris Saint Germain three goals to nil.
In Vedic astrology, retrograde planets are thought to be more powerful. This may be because, when retrograde, planets are closer to the Earth and therefore shine more brightly in the sky. In this contest chart, just as in the Club World Cup Final, Saturn is retrograde. If this theory holds true for contest charts, favourites Italy may play even better than expected.
Either way, the effects of retrograde planets in sports astrology is an area worthy of further research.
This chart is an excellent opportunity to test the effects of the planets on sporting contests, as it contains several powerful but contradictory testimonies: The Moon (with her aspect to the antiscion of Mars) favours Norway, but if Neptune decides to lend his support to an already strong Italy, the favourites may yet win out.
Please note: All contest charts are cast for BST, hence the different date and time from that locally advertised.
The local kick off time for Club World Cup Final at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey is 3pm (ET) on 13th July 2025 Both Chelsea and Paris Saint Germain can be proud of how they have played this tournament, conceding just one game each. Of the two, Paris Saint Germain are considered this most likely to lift the Club World Cup Trophy: As favourites they are signified by Mars (lord of the 1st house) and the Sun (lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites).
Chelsea, as the rivals of the favourites, are represented by Venus, ruler of the opposing 7th house, and Saturn (ruler of the 4th house).
The Moon is void of course (she makes no further aspects in her current sign). Some astrological sports forecasters believe that if the Moon is void of course, a draw is possible. However, this is a Cup Final – there must be a winner. In this context, a void of course Moon shows that the status quo will be maintained, and the favourites are the likely victors.
The South Node applies retrograde to conjunct Mars (lord 1). This is a minor affliction for PSG but would need to be much closer (within 1-2 degrees) to do serious damage.
Neptune applies retrograde to conjunct Saturn, lord of the 4th house (the house of victory for the underdogs). In contest charts, Neptune can put a dampener on the match unless (as here) he is retrograde, when his effect is energising. He was certainly helpful to Spain in their recent Women’s Euro match against Italy and may prove a useful ally to Chelsea this Sunday. Note added: 10:01 am BST on 13th July 2025 – Saturn is also retrograde. The retrograde motion of Saturn will not affect Chelsea’s performance, but may weaken Neptune’s ability to help, as the aspect, although close, will be separating.
Overall, this chart favours the favourites (mainly due to the testimony of the Void of Course Moon). However, if Neptune decides to lend his assistance to Chelsea’s cause, Paris Saint Germain may face a tougher challenge than the pundits expect.

The local kick off time for this final Group B match between Spain and Italy at Bern in Switzerland is 9pm CET on 11th July 2025
Spain are hotly tipped to secure the top spot in their group with a win against Italy: As favourites, Spain are signified by Saturn (lord of the 1st house) and Mars (lord of the 10th house).
Both the Moon (ruler of the 7th house, the house of Spain’s rivals, Italy) and Saturn, the Moon’s dispositor already have jobs: The Moon charting the flow of events and Saturn as the main significator for the favourites. This means that, unusually, Italy have just one planet to represent them in this game, Venus the ruler of the 4th house.
The Moon immediately applies to sextile Saturn, (ruler of the 1st house) showing an advantage for Spain. As the aspect is already so close, this may occur during the early stages of the game.
However, the Moon then runs straight into a conjunction with Pluto. This is bad news for Spain, as Pluto is known to reserve his malice for the most favoured team. In contest charts, the Moon describes the general flow of events, so Pluto’s detriment is more generalised than if either of Spain’s planets (Saturn or Mars) were directly involved. Nevertheless, this conjunction is a warning that Spain will find this game tougher than they may expect.
Neptune applies retrograde to conjunct Saturn (lord 1) and sextile the Moon. In his book ‘Sports Astrology’, John Frawley notes that Neptune is inconsistent in his influence but, like Pluto, may have a grudge against the favourites. In ‘The Gambler’s Dharma’ a book which tests Vedic astrology techniques (traditional and modern) through the lens of contest charts, Simon Chokoisky observes that Neptune puts a dampener on the performance of any team whose planets or houses he contacts, unless Neptune is retrograde (as in this chart) when his influence is energising.
Clearly, more research needs to be done the effects of Neptune in contest charts, and his influence in this game will be noted to see if he helps or hinders the cause of the favourites.
The Moon’s next (and final aspect over the usual 5-degree orb for a 90-minute football match) is a trine with the antiscion of the Part of Fortune, at 04 Gemini 14. As with the Moon’s sextile to Saturn (lord 1) this also boosts the fortunes of Spain.
The only testimony which directly supports Italy is a trine between the Moon and Venus (lord of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs). At over 7 degrees distant from perfection, this trine lies well outside the 5-degree orb of reliability for 90-minute football matches so will only come into play during extra time or penalties, which may prove Italy’s best chance against their rivals.
Please note: All contest charts are cast for BST, hence the different date and time from that locally advertised.
The local kick off time for this Group A match between Norway and Iceland at Arena Thun in Switzerland is 9pm CET on 10th July 2025
This chart shows just one powerful testimony: The placement of the Moon in the 1st house, giving a boost to the fortunes of the favourites, Norway. To make this more certain, the Moon could be closer to the house cusp but, in the absence of any more powerful testimonies, gives the advantage to Norway.
If the game started earlier, the Moon’s opposition to the part of Fortune would be equally helpful for the underdogs (Iceland). However, by the time the game kicks off, this aspect will already be past.
This match will give favourites Norway a chance to consolidate their place at the top of Group A and qualify for the next round.
