FIFA World Cup 2022: 25th November England vs USA

England are favourites for this Group B match, but USA are in great form and could prove formidable opponents: What do the stars say about the outcome?

As favourites, England are represented by the Sun (Lord 1) and Venus (Lord 10, victory for the favourites).

Rivals USA are awarded the rulers of the opposing houses, Saturn (Lord 7) and Mars (Lord 4).

The North and South Nodes are placed close to the cusps of the 10th and 4th houses, but house placement of the Nodes seems less important in contest charts than their conjunctions with planetary significators. In any case. The Nodes are retrograde, and separating from the house cusps, not applying to them.

The placement of Uranus, moving retrograde onto the 10th house cusp is a more important testimony. John Frawley notes in his book “Sports Astrology” that this strongly favours the favourites, so this is a boon for England.

Saturn lends powerful support to the USA; placed in his own sign (traditional rulership) and close to the 7th house cusp, he promises a strong performance, which England would be unwise to underestimate.

Of these two testimonies, Uranus is potentially the stronger, although in contest charts he is notoriously inconsistent in his effects. If he turns out to support England, it is well within his power to award them victory.

The USA will produce a reliably strong performance throughout the game, whilst England’s play may be less consistent, but characterised by flashes of brilliance.

FIFA World Cup 2022: 24th November Uruguay vs South Korea

The Moon immediately applies to conjunction with Venus (Lord 1); a clear testimony of victory for the favourites. Astrologer John Frawley observes that lunar conjunctions are usually final in contest charts and are strong enough to give the result by themselves, without support from any other testimonies. If this rule holds true today, the favourites will surely win. But who are they?

The pundits favour Uruguay, placed 14th in the FIFA World Rankings, compared to South Korea’s 28th. They have won the tournament in the past and are one of the favourites to do well in their Group: Victory seems likely for La Celeste.

South Korea, placed 2nd to Japan in this year’s EAFF E-1 Championship may not go into this match as favourites but will be determined not to let Uruguay dominate the game, especially as it is now believed that Son Heung-min will be fit enough to play.

Even if the heavens believe the result is a foregone conclusion, this match promises to be one of the highlights of today’s schedule. Both teams should play well, and discerning football fans will enjoy watching their progress through the tournament.

FIFA World Cup 2022: 23rd November Germany vs Japan

Placed 2nd in Group E and 11th in the FIFA rankings, Germany are favourites to win their opening match against Japan.

However, Japan won this this year’s East Asian Football Federation E-1 Championship convincingly: It would be a mistake to disregard them.

In the contest chart for this match, Germany, as favourites, are represented by Venus (Lord 1) and Saturn (Lord 10, victory for the favouriites).

Japan are represented by Mars (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and the Sun (4th house).

There is very little going on in this chart: None of the main significators are aspected by the Moon, which usually provides clues to the result.

Saturn, for Germany, is strongly placed in his own sign. This promises a strong performance from Germany, although Saturn is a little too far from the 10th house cusp to be truly conclusive.

The Moon in the 7th house provides an equally strong testimony for Japan. Again, the Moon is too far from the house cusp to guarantee victory, but nevertheless promises that Japan will prove a good match for the favourites.

Overall, this chart has equal testimonies which are inconclusive. In such cases, it is usual to assume the favourites will win by default. However, it would be unwise to rule Japan out of the contest at this stage. This promises to be one of the more interesting matches of the day.

FIFA World Cup 2022: 22nd November 2022 France vs Australia

Favourites France are described by the Sun (Lord 1) and Venus (Lord 10).

Australia are described by Saturn (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and Mars (Lord 4).

The Moon placed in the 4th house is a significant boost to Australia, as is the applying lunar square to Saturn: The signs are that Australia will be much happier with the result than France.

Senegal vs Netherlands (a note)

The most observant will have already noticed that the chart cast for my previous post for the Sengal vs Netherlands date gives the wrong day and time. This is a timely reminder to check (and double-check) the schedule, preferably from several different sources.

I have decided to let the post stand, and see if the forecast (from what is, effectively, a horary chart rather than an event chart) has any bearing on the result. An interesting experiment!

FIFA World Cup 2022: 21st November 2022 England vs Iran

Ranked 5th in the world, England are favourites to emerge victors from their debut match of the tournament. But do the heavens agree?

The Moon is void of course: In traditional horary astrology, this often means that ‘nothing happens;’ the situation remains the same. In charts for sporting contests, the interpretation is slightly different, as there must be a result. In this case, the void of course Moon preserves the status quo: The favourites win.

FIFA World Cup 2022: 20th November 2022 Senegal vs Netherlands

Placed 8th in the FIFA rankings, the Netherlands are expected to win their first game of the tournament: As favourites, they are described by the Sun (Lord 1) and Venus (Lord 10; victory for the favourites).

Their rivals Senegal are awarded Saturn (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and Mars (Lord 4).

The Moon (significator of events) applies first to trine Saturn, and next to trine Mars, both strong testimonies for Senegal.

The only aspect in favour of the Netherlands is a square from the Moon to the antiscion of Venus at 24 Capricorn 19. The Moon will have to travel several degrees over the 5-degree orb usually considered effective for a 90-minute football match, so the best chances for the Netherlands are likely to occur in extra time.

Extra time is not certain. Nor, according to this chart, is a strong performance from the Netherlands. Senegal, however, seem likely to perform much better than the pundits expect.

Sunday 9th October: Everton vs Manchester United

Despite last Sunday’s 6-3 defeat to rivals Manchester City, the odds still favour Manchester United to win this weekend against Everton. But do the heavens agree?

As favourites, Manchester United are represented by Venus (Lord 1) and Saturn (Lord 10, victory for the favourites).

Hosts and rivals Everton are signified by Mars (Lord of the opposing 7th house, and dispositor of the Moon; ruler of the 4th house).

The Moon, who describes how events will unfold during the match, applies to sextile Saturn. This, the only major lunar aspect over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for a 90-minute football match, should award victory to the favourites.

There are other considerations, however: Venus (Lord 1) is combust (within 8 degrees of the Sun). This is a serious debility which is likely to adversely impact the performance of the favourites, potentially reducing the number of goals they score.

Are there any testimonies which favour Everton? The Part of Fortune is placed very close to the 7th house cusp, but as the Part of Fortune is derived from the phase of the Moon, this would be the same for any match played around the Full Moon. The underdogs do not win every Full Moon match, so this can be disregarded.

The antiscion of Saturn (at 11 Scorpio 16) is captured by the 7th house but placed too far from the house cusp to give Everton power over Manchester United’s hopes for victory.

In the absence of any testimonies in favour of the underdogs, the stars point to a win for favourites Manchester United. However, the Sun’s affliction of Venus suggests that their winning goal tally will not be particularly memorable.

Saturday 1st October 2022: Arsenal vs Tottenham Hotspur

Currently at the top of the table, Arsenal are favoured to win and are signified by Jupiter (Lord 1) and Venus (Lord 10, victory for the favourites).

Rivals Tottenham are represented by Mercury (Lord of the opposing 7th house) and Mars (Lord 4, victory for the underdogs).

At first glance, this chart looks good for the favourites, with Venus exactly on the cusp of her own house of victory.

However, Jupiter (Lord 1) placed just inside the 4th house has a different tale to tell: The 4th house represents victory for the underdogs and Jupiter is effectively held captive here.

The antiscion of Mercury, Lord 7), also in the 4th house at 05 Aries 44, is a little too far from the cusp to be conclusive but adds a measure of support to Tottenham: The signs are that the visitors are prepared to give as good as they get.

The Part of Fortune is very near her traditional dispositor, Saturn. As Saturn is retrograde, they are applying to conjunction: This is very positive for favourites Arsenal.

What does the Moon have to say? Her final aspect (over the 5-degree orb usually effective for 90-minute football matches), is an opposition to Mars who, as Lord of the 4th house, spells further success for Tottenham.

This is a rare contest chart, in which all main significators are in play: With testimonies so finely balanced, a close score is forecast and a draw cannot be ruled out.

Saturday 24th September 2022 UEFA Nations League: Northern Ireland vs Kosovo

Despite their recent lacklustre home form and placement at the bottom of their UEFA Nations League group, the bookies still favour Northern Ireland to win. This writer disagrees: In the last match between these teams, Kosovo won and currently reside 2nd in the group, with 6 points to Northern Ireland’s 2. Logically, this makes Kosovo the favourites.

Kosovo are represented by Saturn (Lord 1) and Mars (Lord 10, victory for the favourites). With the Moon (Lord 7) already occupied describing the progress of events, her dispositor Mercury steps in as main significator for rivals Northern Ireland. Venus, Lord 4 (victory for the underdogs) is their co-significator.

Pluto, who John Frawley has observed acts as a malefic for the favourites, is in the 1st house but too far from the house cusp to do serious damage to Kosovo’s hopes.

The Moon’s immediate application to square Mars (Lord 10) is very fortunate for the favourites. As this is the only major lunar aspect over the 5-degree orb considered reliable for a 90-minute football match, Kosovo should emerge the victors.

If events stray into extra time, the balance of power swings to Northern Ireland: The Moon’s next aspect is a conjunction to Venus (Lord 4). A conjunction from the Moon to a team’s significator is usually conclusive in their favour but, at 8-degrees before the aspect perfects, extra time would have to be involved for Northern Ireland to salvage any points.
