Astrological Football Forecast for Women’s Euro 2025: Quarter Finals 16th July 2025 Norway vs Italy

Please note:  All contest charts are cast for BST, hence the different date and time from that locally advertised.

The local kick off time for this Quarter Final between Norway and Italy in Geneva, Switzerland is 9pm CET on 16th July 2025

The pundits consider these teams very closely matched, which makes it difficult to pick the favourite. However, at the time of writing, Italy have slightly better odds to win: As the most likely favourites, they are signified by Saturn (lord of the 1st house).

The ruler of the 7th house (the house of rivals Norway) is the Moon.  She already has a role describing the flow of events, so her dispositor Mars, (who as lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites, would usually be their co-significator) steps in as main significator for Norway.

Venus (ruler of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs) would usually be co-significator for Norway, but also has another role which takes precedence, that of dispositor of the Part of Fortune.

As a result, each team has just one planet representing them: Saturn for Italy and Mars for Norway.

The Moon applies to conjunct the antiscion of Mars (at 12 Aries 57). Although conjunctions to antiscia are not as reliable as bodily conjunctions, this is a powerful testimony for Norway.

However, there is Neptune to consider. In his book “Gambler’s Dharma” which examines contest charts through the lens of Vedic astrology, Simon Chokoisky observes that Neptune has a dampening influence, unless he is retrograde when he is energising.

Here, Neptune is retrograde and almost conjunct Saturn (lord 1, for Italy).  The aspect never perfects, as Saturn is also retrograde.  However, the planets are close enough to be worth noting. In the Club World Cup final on 13th July 2025, Neptune certainly a powerful ally to Chelsea who, despite being the underdogs, trounced favourites Paris Saint Germain three goals to nil.

In Vedic astrology, retrograde planets are thought to be more powerful.  This may be because, when retrograde, planets are closer to the Earth and therefore shine more brightly in the sky.  In this contest chart, just as in the Club World Cup Final, Saturn is retrograde.  If this theory holds true for contest charts, favourites Italy may play even better than expected.

Either way, the effects of retrograde planets in sports astrology is an area worthy of further research.

This chart is an excellent opportunity to test the effects of the planets on sporting contests, as it contains several powerful but contradictory testimonies:  The Moon (with her aspect to the antiscion of Mars) favours Norway, but if Neptune decides to lend his support to an already strong Italy, the favourites may yet win out.

Astrological Football Forecast for FIFA Club World Cup: Last 16 Day 4 Real Madrid vs Juventus

Please note:  All contest charts are cast for BST, hence the different date and time from that locally advertised.

The local kick off time for this Last-16 match in Miami, Florida is 3pm (ET) on 1st July 2025

Both teams have strong support, and we can expect this to be another hotly contested match.  At the time of writing, Real Madrid are the favourites, but only by a small margin.  In the view of the pundits, there is little to choose between the two teams, and the match may well go to penalties.

But do the heavens agree?

If Real Madrid truly are the favourites (as the odds suggest), they are signified by Mars (Lord of the 1st house) and the Sun (Lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites).

Venus, ruler of the 7th house represents rivals Juventus.

The planet which would usually be their co-significator (Saturn, ruler of the 4th house; the house of victory for the underdogs) already has a role as dispositor of the Part of Fortune.

The Moon is void of course (she makes no further aspects in her current sign).  This often means that the status quo is maintained, and the favourite wins.

Pluto applies retrograde to the 4th house cusp (one of the houses which represent Juventus).  Pluto tends to reserve his malice for the favourites, so this is unlikely to affect the outcome of the match.

Overall, the heavens forecast ‘no change’:  Real Madrid finished the first round at the top of their group, with Juventus in second place.  The void of course moon suggests that the favourites will come out on top in this game as well.

Astrological Football Forecast for the Premier League: 1st May 2025 Nottingham Forest vs Brentford

According to the pundits, Nottingham Forest have the better chance of victory.  As favourites, they are signified by Mars, ruler of the 1st house and the Sun, ruler of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites).

Their rivals, Brentford, are represented by Venus (ruler of the opposing 7th house) and Saturn, lord of the 4th house (the house of victory for the underdogs).

The Sun is placed in the 7th house, which might be expected to show Nottingham Forest’s hopes of victory in the power of their rivals. However, in contest charts, a team’s significator must be placed within 1-2 degrees to be considered worthy of note, so this testimony does not count.

The conjunction of the benefic North Node and Saturn (lord of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs) might have added an extra boost to the fortunes of Brentford, but this aspect is separating, so does not signify.

The Moon, whose applying aspects often describe the key events of the match, makes only one aspect of significance, a sextile to the Sun.  This is favourable for the favourites.  The Moon must travel just beyond the 5-degree orb considered most reliable in a 90-minute football match, suggesting that an advantage or opportunity is likely to occur in the latter stages of the game, or possibly even in extra time, which Nottingham Forest may be able to turn to their advantage.

The only other testimony of significance is the applying opposition to the Part of Fortune from her dispositor, Jupiter.  This testimony benefits Brentford, but the aspect is also just beyond the 5-degree orb, so may not be entirely reliable. It nevertheless merits consideration.

So, we have two strong testimonies in this chart; one from the Moon favouring Nottingham Forest, and the other involving the Part of Fortune which favours Brentford.  It seems likely that Brentford will play well, but that Nottingham Forest should be alert to an opportunity which presents itself during the latter stages of the game, which could give them the final advantage.

Africa Cup of Nations astrological football forecast for 7th February 2024: Nigeria vs South Africa

Nigeria are favourites for a place in the final, but the match promises to be closely fought.

Nigeria have just one significator, Mars (Lord of the 10th house; the house of victory for the favourites): The Moon, lord of the 1st house, already has a role describing the flow of events, whilst the Moon’s dispositor, which would usually step in as substitute, is Saturn, Lord of the opposing 7th house and main significator for South Africa.

South Africa also have Venus (ruler of the 4th house) as their co-significator.

The Moon applies to conjunct Venus: This testimony would usually be sufficient to guarantee victory to South Africa.

However, the placement of Mars on the cusp of the 7th house depicts South Africa’s efforts dominated by Nigeria’s hopes of victory. This testimony is sufficiently strong to counterbalance the lunar conjunction with Venus.

The heavens confirm this semi-final will be a close match indeed, which may be decided on penalties.

Beauty is Truth : The 3rd Quarter Moon in Libra, 29th December 2018

“Beauty is truth, truth beauty, that is all ye know on earth and all ye need to know”: Astrology is as much art as science, and these lines written by John Keats in his beautiful, ‘Ode on a Grecian Urn’ express the quintessence of this month’s 3rd quarter Moon in Libra, which occurs on 29th December 2018 at 09:34 GMT at 07 Libra 16. The Moon in this air sign, ruled by Venus, the goddess of love, is the personification of grace, elegance and poise. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn assigned the Two of Swords to the Moon in Libra; its key meanings of clarity, balance and peace describing the element of Air acting through the Sephiroth Chokmah, (meaning ‘Wisdom’) on the Tree of Life. The 3rd quarter Moon forms an exact square to the Sun at 07 Libra 16, a degree associated with the 16th Lunar Mansion, of which Christopher Warnock writes; “The recurrent theme of the scales reminds us to exercise moderation and maintain balance even in the midst of abundance”.

This month, the finer qualities of this lunar placement are hindered in their expression by a difficult reception with Venus in Scorpio, the sign of her fall and an impending square with Saturn in Capricorn, sign of the her detriment, and may require more effort to bring to the fore. Nevertheless, the waning Moon is an excellent time for reflection which, in combination with the discernment of Libra, can assist in cutting and clearing away that which no longer serves, and enable us to approach the New Year lightly and in a spirit of clarity and grace.

The Spirit Animals of Freda Kahlo

This Saturday, as the Sun transits her natal Venus, one of the world’s most iconic artists will again find herself in the spotlight when the V&A in London hosts an exhibition of the wardrobe and belongings of artist Frida Kahlo, many items of which have been locked away from public view for over 50 years.

Venus rules beauty in all forms, so it is appropriate that the exhibition will not only reference Kahlo’s paintings but also feature her clothing, jewellery and even items of makeup.

The Midheaven and 10th house give clues to the extent and form of our fame and public image. Frida Kahlo’s Midheaven at 23 Taurus 20 is ruled by Venus in the sign of the twins, appropriate for an artist with two dates of birth: A passionate political activist, she was born in 1907 but gave her year of birth as 1910, the year of the beginning of the Mexican Revolution.

In keeping with the communicative nature of Gemini, Frida’s paintings were a means to tell her own story; “They thought I was a Surrealist but I wasn’t. I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality.”

The dual nature of Venus in Gemini is present in her paintings and in her self-image. She refused to conform to traditional stereotypes and her self-portraits display the many facets of her complex personality. In some the artist is in traditional Mexican costume, in others clothed in the European fashion. Most striking are those in which the she appears as a boy, sporting the three-piece suit she famously wore for a family photo.

The duality of Venus in Gemini was also present in her romantic life. In the words of Dusty Springfield, she was ‘as capable of being swayed by a girl as by a boy’ and even while married to fellow artist Diego Riviera, had affairs with some of the most glamorous women of the age, including (it is said) the beautiful dancer, activist and agent of the French Resistance Josephine Baker.

Frida was fascinated with Mexico’s pre-Columbian cultures. Many of her paintings contain iconography related to Aztec beliefs and mythology. She and her husband even built a model of an Aztec temple in courtyard of their home (the ‘Blue House’ in Coyoacán) which can still be visited today. Many of the animals which appear in her self-portraits reference the Aztec and Mayan belief in the ‘nahual’; a spirit animal companion very similar to the concept of the daemon (a person’s ‘inner-self’ in animal form) which will be familiar to readers of Philip Pullman’s ‘His Dark Materials’ books. Unsurprisingly, the animal companions which appear in Frida’s paintings are all Geminian in nature; agile monkeys, talkative parrots, variegated butterflies and hummingbirds which were her constant companions, both in art and in life.

Right thoughts, right words, right action: Reflections on the New Moon 15th May 2018

This month’s New Moon falls at 24 Taurus 36, conjunct fixed star Capulus; the sword hilt in the constellation Perseus. By Ptolemy’s reckoning, this star is of the nature of Mercury and Mars. It bestows a determined and headstrong nature, not easily swayed from its chosen course; Shakespeare chose Capulet (derived from the same Latin root) as the name of one of the reckless and headstrong lovers in his most famous romantic tragedy

The first aspect the New Moon makes is a trine to Mars, exalted in Capricorn, further underlining the warrior-like energy of this New Moon. The harmonious nature of the aspect encourages us to temper our actions with intellect, much as Minerva’s gift of a shield of wisdom helped Perseus combat the Gorgon Medusa and the sea monster Cetus. There are parallels to be drawn with the Buddhist concept of ‘right action’; the sixth part of the Eightfold Path which counsels us to act honourably and with respect for the lives and will of everything living.

One of the greatest achievements of the magicians of the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn was to develop a system of correspondences where tarot cards, mythology, astrology and Kabbalah are interlinked. In this system, the myth of Perseus and Andromeda corresponds with the tarot card ‘The Lovers’, Gemini the Twins, the Hebrew letter Zayin (meaning ‘sword’) and the path on the Kabbalistic Tree of Life which links Binah (Saturn, Wisdom, Understanding) with Tiphareth (the Sun, Beauty, Harmony) The essence of this path, and the opportunity of this month’s New Moon, is the alchemy which arises from the fusion of opposites, the balance between the senses and the intellect, and the harmonious unity of the personality with the higher self which leads to knowledge of the true will:

“The boat responded

Gaily, to the hand expert with sail and oar

The sea was calm, your heart would have responded

Gaily, when invited, beating obedient

To controlling hands”
