30th April 2022: Newcastle vs Liverpool and Leeds vs Man City

My apologies to any Facebook followers who (due to a social media malfunction) missed out on last week’s forecast. If a forecast is missing here, please check my WordPress site “Astrology by Louise Of Arabia”

To make amends, I am including a bonus extra forecast this week.

As we are approaching the new Moon, the Part of Fortune will always be close to the 1st house cusp. As such, it is not significant in determining the result of the match. That said, the antiscion of the Part of Fortune, and any conjunctions or oppositions between the Part of Fortune and its dispositor are always worth consideration.

However, in the following two charts, it is the aspects from the Moon which are most worthy of attention…

Newcastle vs Liverpool

The Moon, which tells us how events will unfold during the match, applies to conjunct the Sun, ruler of the 1st house. As a conjunction between the Moon and a team’s main significator usually decides the outcome of the match, this awards the game to favourites Liverpool.

Leeds vs Man City

At first glance, the match for Leeds vs Man City, which takes place a few hours later, looks similar but has potential for a very different outcome. Here, the Moon still applies to conjunct the Sun but, as the Sun does not rule a house belonging to either team (1st and 10th for the favourites, 7th and 4th for the underdogs), this aspect lacks the importance it held in the previous Newcastle vs Liverpool match.

Looking past this conjunction, the Moon’s next aspect (and the only significant aspect within the 5 degrees orb considered effective in a 90-minute football match) is a sextile with Mars. As Mars rules the 7th house, representing the underdogs, this is a fortunate sign for relegation-fighting Leeds, who look set for a far better performance than the pundits expect.

24th April 2022: Liverpool vs Everton

Currently placed second in the table, Liverpool are favourites to win this Sunday’s local derby against Merseyside rivals Everton.  Do the heavens agree?

The Moon, as significator of events, makes just one aspect within the 5-degree orb considered effective for a 90-minute football match:  A trine to Mercury.  As Mercury rules the 1st house (the favourites) and the 10th house (victory for the favourites), the Moon seems to side with the pundits in favouring Liverpool to win.

The ruler of the 7th house (Jupiter) is placed just inside his own house and is conjunct the house cusp. This is unlikely to change the result, but does promise a strong performance from Everton.

16th April 2022: Tottenham Hotspur vs Brighton & Hove Albion

If they continue their current fine form, Tottenham are expected to emerge the victors in this Saturday’s match against Brighton. However, Brighton’s recent convincing win against Arsenal suggests Spurs may face some strong opposition. What do the heavens say?

The Moon, as significator of events, has a most powerful role in contest charts. Here her first aspect is a trine to Saturn which, as ruler of the 7th house, represents the underdogs Brighton: A spirited start for the Seagulls is indicated, with the possibility of at least one goal.

Her next aspect is an opposition to the Sun, ruler of the 1st house and hence main significator for the favourites, Tottenham Hotspur.

As the Moon’s final major aspect (within the 5-degree orb usually considered effective for 90-minute football matches) usually determines the result, this should award the game to Spurs.

Expect strong opposition from Brighton, and the likelihood of goals for both sides.

9th April 2022: Aston Villa vs Tottenham

In John Frawley’s system for judging contest charts (for further details, his book “Sports Astrology” is highly recommended), the home team is not automatically signified by the 1st house and its ruler. Instead, that honour goes to the favourites, in this case visiting team Tottenham. As Virgo rises, Spurs are described primarily by Mercury (at 27 Aries 06), whose role as their main significator is given extra emphasis by his also ruling the 10th house (victory for the favourites).

Hosts and rivals Aston Villa are awarded Jupiter, who governs both the opposing 7th house and the 4th house (victory for the underdogs), placed at 23 Pisces 18.

Astrology is as much a study of time as of the heavens, and this chart nicely illustrates the importance of timing in determining a result: If this match had been scheduled for just two hours earlier, it is likely that the Moon’s trine to Jupiter would have indicated a very different outcome for Villa (most likely, a draw). But with that aspect now past, the Moon’s impending square to Mercury should justify the opinions of the pundits and award the game to Tottenham.

2nd April 2022: Liverpool vs Watford

At the time of writing, 47 points separate 2nd placed Liverpool from Watford at 18th place in the table: With Liverpool clearly enjoying better form, the result of Saturday’s game at Anfield seems a foregone conclusion. But is this reflected in the heavens?

The 1st house and its ruler describe the favourites: Cancer rises, and with the Moon already spoken for as significator of events, her dispositor Mars is summoned from the substitute’s bench to represent Liverpool.

Rivals Watford are represented by the opposing 7th house and its ruler, Saturn.

Neither Saturn nor Mars have starring roles to play in this chart, by aspect or placement. Nor does the Moon, who is usually so critical to the result, make any significant aspect: At 27 Aries 10, her only and final aspect is a square to Pluto at 28 Capricorn 25.

Pluto’s exact placement on the cusp of the 7th house is not particularly detrimental to Watford but may afflict Liverpool’s performance due to his opposition of the 1st house cusp: John Frawley observes in his book “Sports Astrology” that Pluto seems to hold a grudge against the favourites.

The trine between the Part of Fortune (at 12 Leo 55) and its dispositor the Sun (at 12 Aries 42) is mildly helpful to favourites Liverpool but does not guarantee victory.

In the absence of more conclusive aspects, Liverpool should still emerge the winners, although their performance may not be their most memorable of the season due to the affliction from Pluto.
