Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 18th July France vs England

This game decides Third Place in the tournament.  Bookmakers and pundits are in agreement: France are the favourites.

As favourites, they are represented by Jupiter (lord 1).  Opponents England have Mercury (lord 7) as their significator.

The lords of the 10th and 4th houses (Mercury and Jupiter) are already spoken for as primary significators for England and France respectively, so neither team has a co-significator in this match.

The Moon is in the 10th house, which is a strong testimony for the favourites provided she is close enough (within 2-degrees) of the house cusp.  Here, she is just under 5-degrees from the cusp, so this testimony is nowhere near as powerful, but worth noting.

The Moon immediately applies to a conjunction with the antiscion of  Neptune at 25 Virgo 38.  John Frawley writes that he has not  noticed Neptune doing anything with consistency in contest charts, but that he may (like Pluto) have a grudge against the favourites.  In my own observations, I have found Neptune to be disruptive to the game in general, with delays, late kickoffs and difficult weather conditions being typical of his influence.

The Moon next trines the antiscion of Jupiter (for the favourites) at 25 Taurus 57.  This is positive for the favourites, France.

So we have two positive testimonies for France, one (the lunar trine to the antiscion of Jupiter) more reliable than the other (because the lunar conjunction with the MC is too wide an orb).

Are there any corresponding testimonies for England?

Pluto (who often works against the favourites) applies retrograde to oppose Jupiter, the main significator for France. This may help England, but is a less reliable testimony than the lunar aspect to the antiscion of Jupiter, which is a definite boost to the fortunes of France.

If Pluto were applying to conjunct the Part of Fortune, this might prove helpful to England, but Pluto is retrograde, so the aspect is separating.

Mercury who, as lord 7, is main significator for England, is no longer combust but is still close enough to the Sun to be under the sunbeams (within 15-degrees of the Sun, and in the same sign).  This is a debility, but not as serious as combustion.

Overall, this chart favours the favourites:  The most reliable aspect in this chart is the applying lunar trine to the antiscion of Jupiter (for France).

The Moon conjunct the MC would more likely guarantee a win for the favourites, but the orb needs to be closer (within 2-degrees).

Neptune and Pluto may prove disruptive if the mood takes them.  Pluto’s influence in particular could help England, but (football being a team game) they would need to meet him halfway by adopting suitable tactics to take advantage of the opportunity.  This is England’s best hope, in a match which strongly favours France.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 15th July England vs Argentina

In the UK, the odds are usually strongly skewed in favour of a win for England.  But for this match, even the UK bookmakers admit (despite a slight bias towards England) that the result is likely to be close.

The past performance of both teams may offer greater clarity. In this tournament, England have won all but one of their games (a draw against Ghana).  Argentina have been victorious in all their games so far: Judging by this criteria, Argentina must be the favourites for this match.

As favourites, Argentina have Mars (lord 1) and the Sun (lord 10, the house of victory for the favourites), as their significators.

England are represented by Venus (lord 7) and Saturn (lord of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs).

The Moon, who describes the flow of events, is in the 10th house (Argentina’s house of victory), within 1-degree of the house cusp. John Frawley writes; “(the) Moon applying to or close inside the 1st or 10th cusp: victory goes to the favourite”. This looks extremely good for Argentina.

However, Frawley also writes that “(the) Moon’s final aspect wins”.  Over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for a 90-minute football match the Moon makes just one significant aspect; a trine to Saturn, lord of the 4th house (England’s house of victory).  This is a correspondingly powerful testimony for an England win.

So we have two strong testimonies of victory; one for each team.  At this stage of the tournament, a draw is out of the question, increasing the likelihood of extra time, and a dreaded penalty shootout.

Is there anything in the chart which could sway the match in favour of one team all the other?

Possibly.

John Frawley observes that if Pluto is conjunct or opposing the Part of Fortune, or the antiscion of the Part of Fortune, this favours the underdogs.  In this chart, the antiscion of Fortuna (at 03 Aquarius 40) is closely conjunct retrograde Pluto at 04 Aquarius 33.  If England are the least favoured team (which their tournament record past implies they should be) Pluto may yet come to their aid.

This promises to be one of the most closely fought matches so far, with plenty of tense moments for fans of both teams.  Argentina are likely to dominate the game (Moon in the 10th) with England rallying in the latter stages (lunar trine to Saturn). However, victory may be in the gift of Pluto.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 14th July France vs Spain

The pundits give France a slight edge to win, but the result is expected to be close.  What do the heavens say?

As nominal favourites, France have Venus (lord 1) as their significator.  Their co-significator (lord 10) the Moon, already has a role describing the events of the match, so France only has one representative (Venus) in this match.

Mars, lord 7 and Saturn, lord 4, signify Spain.

The Moon immediately applies to the cusp of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites: This is a powerful testimony for France.

Other than the aspect to the 10th house cusp, the Moon makes no further aspects. Technically, she is void of course, as she makes no aspect to any more planets in her current sign of Cancer: This could confirm a win for the favourites, or may signal a draw (which, at this stage of the tournament will lead to a result decided by extra time or penalties).

This chart favours the favourites.  The trickiest challenge will be to determine who the favourites are.  France are favoured by the pundits, and have won all their tournament games so far.  Spain have yet to lose a game this tournament, having won 5 games and drawn one.

On this evidence, France have a slight edge, with a strong chance of the result being decided by extra time or penalties.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 12th July Argentina vs Switzerland

Note: This chart was set for an incorrect kickoff time. The correct chart (for 2am BST gives an ascendant of 09 Capricorn 11 (Saturn , Lord 1 and Mars, Lord 10 for favourites Argentina). Venus, Lord 4 represents Switzerland who are also given Mercury (dispositor of the Moon, Lord 7) as their significator.

The debility to Mercury (Switzerland) from combustion still applies. But the advantage of the Moon’s placement in the 7th house no longer exists. The Antiscion of the Moon at 13 Cancer 41) is close to the 7th house cusp but not enough to give Switzerland the win.

Mercury separates retrograde from the Antiscion of the Part of Fortune at 24 Capricorn 13: an opportunity lost, perhaps.

Neptune is no longer in the 4th house, so his potential for disruption is cancelled.

There is little in this chart to favour Argentina, but (crucially) there are no significant debilities either.

In contrast, Switzerland had to contend to a powerful debility in Mercury going to combustion.

Argentina 3 – 1 Switzerland

For comparison, I include the original forecast for the incorrect chart (below):

The pundits favour Argentina, who are represented by Jupiter (lord 1) and Venus (lord 10).

Rivals Switzerland have Mercury (lord 7) and Mars (lord 4) as their significators.

Mercury is closely combust (within 8-degrees of the Sun): This is highly problematic for Switzerland.

Neptune in the 4 house could cause further disruptions for Switzerland, but would need to be nearer to the house cusp for his influence to be truly effective.

More positively, the Moon is just inside the 7th house. Ideally, she would be closer to the house cusp (within 2-degrees is ideal) but this is a strong testimony for Switzerland.

Mars (lord of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs) hovers just above the cusp of the 7th house, together with the antiscion of Mercury (lord 7, at 08 Gemini 36) which is even closer: Switzerland have a winning mindset, and will play well as a result.  This would not guarantee a win even if Mars (and Mercury’s antiscion) were closer to the house cusp, but are signs that Switzerland will prove strong opposition to Argentina’s hopes.

The Moon, who describes the progress of events, makes no significant aspects over the 5-degree orb considered most effective during a 90-minute football match.  Her trine to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 22 Aquarius 19) is, at over 7 degrees, a possible sign of a late opportunity for the favourites, most likely in extra time.

Venus (lord of the 10th house, the house of victory for the favourites) separates from a debilitating conjunction with the South Node.  This aspect is in the past, and should not cause problems for Argentina in this match.

Switzerland have a mixed bag of testimonies, of which combust Mercury (debility) and the Moon in the 7th house (advantage) are the  strongest.

Argentina have less testimonies overall, with a suggestion (the late lunar trine to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune) that the latter stages of the game will prove most favourable for them.

Switzerland can be expected to make things difficult for Argentina, whose best opportunity to turn the tide in their favour is likely to occur in the latter stages of the match.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 11th July Norway vs England

As expected, the odds from the UK bookies are skewed in favour of an England win. However, some of the wiser pundits have predicted the all-too-familiar England scenario of a crucial tournament match decided on penalties.

Perhaps the heavens can offer some clarity.

If we accept that England are the favourites, they are represented by Jupiter (lord 1).  Rivals Norway are signified by Mercury (lord 7).

The antiscion of Mercury (for the underdogs, at 08 Gemini 33) is placed just inside the 7th house; a sign that they will play well.

This does not guarantee a win for the underdogs, but might help to offset Mercury’s debility from combustion: Mercury’s retrograde motion has brought him close enough to the Sun for this to be a serious problem.  The placement of Uranus on the cusp of the 7th house could also prove disruptive to their hopes.

So we have one favourable, and two unfavourable testimonies for the underdogs.  What does this chart tell us about the favourites?

The Moon makes no significant aspects over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for a 90-minute football match (the applying sextile to Saturn is not relevant, as he does not appear to have a role in the match).

There is however, one very important (and fairly rare) testimony to support the cause of the favourites: The antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 00 Pisces 05) is exactly conjunct the North Node.  Of this, John Frawley writes; “In this context, Fortuna can be taken as belonging to the favourite: Fortuna on the North Node helps the favourite; on the South Node it helps the underdog. Conjunctions only, within a couple of degrees at most.”  Since Frawley places greater weight on the position of Fortuna by antiscion, I would contend that the testimony applies in this case.  Note that this aspect is technically separating. A kickoff late by even one minute will move the Part of Fortune to 00 Scorpio 08 (antiscion at 29 Aquarius 52) and will not apply.

The underdogs will play well, but have challenges to overcome.  The favourites have just one testimony in their favour, but it is a powerful one.

The favourites have a slight edge, but whether it is enough to avoid extra time or the dreaded penalty shootout remains to be seen.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 10th July Spain vs Belgium

This chart is problematic: Firstly, the Moon is void of course (she makes no further aspects in her current sign).  In a run-of-the-mill league game this would often signify a draw, but in a World Cup quarter final this is not possible.

Another interpretation of a void of course Moon is a win for the favourites: Essentially, “nothing changes”; the stronger team at the start of the match is the stronger team at the finish.

More concerningly, Neptune is conjunct the cusp of the 7th house. Neptune’s disruptive influence has already been observed in this tournament, particularly with reference to delayed kickoffs. If the match starts late this will invalidate the contest chart.  Forecasting in advance of the event, we must nevertheless make do with the information available.

As favourites, Spain are signified by Venus (lord 1).  The Moon, ruler of the 10th house (the house of victory for the favourites) already has a role describing the flow of events, so Spain is without a co-significator for this match.

Mars (lord 7) and Saturn (lord 4) represent rivals Belgium.

Venus, (lord 1) is closely conjunct the debilitating South Node.  The aspect is separating, but may yet prove challenging for Spain.

Saturn (lord 4) is trine the Part of Fortune, but this aspect is also separating. Furthermore, John Frawley in his book Sports Astrology, comments that only conjunctions and oppositions from team significators to the Part of Fortune work with any degree of reliability.

Mars (lord 7) is conjunct disruptive Uranus.  This aspect is also separating.

It seems that everything of interest in this chart has occurred in the past. Could the heavens be telling us this match is already a foregone conclusion? That would certainly be one interpretation, but not one I favour, preferring to hope that, however the odds are stacked, free will must have some influence in any sporting contest.

The void of course Moon is a strong argument of a win for the favourites, but the disruptive effects of Neptune are not to be underestimated: He may work against Belgium (he is placed just above the cusp of the 7th house) but could also shake things up by delaying the kickoff. Time will tell.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 9th July France vs Morocco

France (the odds-on favourites) have won all their games in this tournament, whilst Morocco’s World Cup progress has seen them win four games and draw one.  The pundits predict this game will be close, with a strong likelihood of extra time. But what do the heavens say?

As favourites, France are signified by Mars (lord 1) and Mercury (lord 10).

Morocco are represented by Venus (lord 7) and Jupiter (lord 4).

In contrast to charts from the early rounds of the tournament, testimonies for this match are plentiful.

Venus (lord 7) applies to the cusp of the 10th house (the favourite’s house of victory).  To indicate a win for Morocco, Venus would need to be a little closer to the house cusp (within 2-degrees is ideal) but this does show that they have the ability to put France under serious pressure.

However, Venus is closely conjunct the South Node. This is a powerful testimony against Morocco, and weakens the otherwise positive placement of Venus close to the 10th house cusp.

Mercury (lord 10) is under the sunbeams and going retrograde to combustion (within degrees of the Sun). Potentially, this is a serious hindrance to France.

Retrograde Mercury (lord 10) immediately applies to conjunct the antiscion of Mars (lord 1) at 22 Cancer 13. This shows victory (lord 10) approaching the favourites France (lord 1).   (Thank you, Raja Z Ali, for highlighting the potential of this aspect in a comment on a previous post).

The Moon who describes the progress of events during the match, applies first to sextile the Sun, and then (more significantly) to trine the Part of Fortune, which favours France.

These are the only aspects within the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for 90 minute football matches.  Lunar aspects beyond this point often have reference to extra time, when this is possible.

The Moon will need to travel almost 10-degrees to conjunct Mercury and the antiscion of Mars, but this hints that, should the match stray into extra time, it would be an opportunity for France to consolidate any advantage.

In this chart, more testimonies favour France than support Morocco.  The likelihood is a victory for France, but Morocco will make them work for it.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 7th July Argentina vs Egypt

Argentina, the favourites, are signified by Mercury (lord of the 1st and 10th houses).

Jupiter, lord of the 7th and 4th houses, represents Egypt.

There have been problems with delayed kickoffs this tournament but, if the match starts as scheduled, this contest chart will apply.

The position of the Part of Fortune is linked to the current Moon phase and so will mirror the lunar cycle.  For this reason, the bodily placement of the Part of Fortune (in this case, close to the 10th house cusp) does not signify.

The Moon immediately applies to conjunct Saturn.  Of Saturn, John Frawley writes; “Unless it is busy being Lord 1or Lord 7, it seems to work as a malefactor, afflicting whatever it touches.”  The Moon describes how the events of the game will unfold; a warning that this match could be marred by upsets or controversy.

Following her conjunction with Saturn, the Moon makes just one relevant aspect; a sextile to the Part of Fortune.  However, the Moon will need to travel over 7-degrees to perfect this aspect, which is beyond the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for 90-minute football matches.  Should the match stray into extra time, this lunar sextile to Fortuna may indicate a late opportunity for the favourites.

Mercury, sole significator for Argentina, is under the sunbeams and applying retrograde to combustion (a state of being within 8-degrees of the Sun). This is a setback for the favourites.

The antiscion of Mercury (at 06 Gemini 01) is exactly conjunct Mars and closely conjunct Uranus.  Uranus’ participation in the equation is concerning, as his influence can be severely disruptive.

Jupiter (lord 7) applies to oppose retrograde Pluto.

John Frawley observes that Pluto reserves his malice for the favourites, so this will not be a hindrance to Egypt.   However, Pluto’s involvement in the game could make problems for the favourites.

So far in this tournament, Argentina have won all their games.  It will take a major upset to overturn this run of good fortune.  However, there are enough disruptive influences in this chart to suggest the odds-on favourites will find the match more challenging than expected.

Egypt will prove strong opposition, but Argentina could turn the tide in the latter stages of the game, especially if extra time or penalties come into play.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 6th July Mexico vs England

England are considered the favourites, but by a very thin margin.  Either way, the match is expected to be close.

There has been talk of bad weather, so provided  the game kicks off on time, England have Jupiter (lord 1) and Venus (lord 10) as their significators.

Mercury (lord 7) and Mars (lord 4), represent Mexico.

The antiscion of Mars (lord of the 4th house, Mexico’s house of victory, at 24 Cancer 54) conjunct Mercury at 24 Cancer 48 might have been significant, but Mercury is retrograde, so the aspect is already separating.

The Moon first applies to trine Mercury (lord 7) and then, almost immediately, trines the antiscion of Mars (lord 4, at 24 Cancer 54) both for Mexico.

The antiscion of the Moon, at 08 Libra 10, is placed just inside the 10th house.  At 3 degrees from the cusp, the Moon is just outside the ideal 2-degree orb of aspect, but is surely close enough to consider. This is a testimony for the favourites.

Neptune placed close to the cusp of the 4th house, Mexico’s house of victory, sounds a note of caution.  John Frawley notes that Neptune’s influence is inconsistent, but can be disruptive.

Uranus is placed close to Mars (lord 4, for Mexico). The aspect is separating, but the disruptive influence Uranus is powerful, and not to be underestimated.

We have two clear testimonies for Mexico, and (counting Neptune) two slightly less reliable testimonies for England. The Uranus/Mars separating conjunction may also be taken into consideration. The heavens confirm that the match will be close.

The biggest puzzle is to determine which team are the true favourites.  But either way, extra time and even a penalty shootout are strong possibilities.

Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 5th July Brazil vs Norway

Brazil are odds on favourites, and are represented by Mars, (lord 1) and the Sun (lord 10).

Rivals Norway have Venus (lord 7) and Saturn (lord 4) as their significators.

Venus, for Norway, applies to conjunct the 10th house cusp.  This shows Brazil’s 10th house (their house of victory) under siege by Norway.  At less than 2-degrees from the cusp, Venus is close enough to award Norway the match, unless contradicted by stronger testimonies.

One such testimony exists: The Moon applies to trine the Part of Fortune; a strong testimony for the favourites, Brazil.

This is a contest chart where the testimonies are equally balanced, one for each side.

In a run-of-the-mill match, this would likely result in a draw.   However, at this knockout stage of the World Cup, a draw is not possible.  Instead, expect a closely fought contest which will go down to the wire.
