Chart cast for ET (EDT)
After their convincing victory in the opening game of the finals, the Celtics are tipped to continue their winning streak. But do the heavens agree?
As favourites, the Celtics are represented by Jupiter, lord of the 1st house, and Venus (ruler of the 10th house; the house of victory for the favourites).
The Mavericks have Mercury (ruler of the opposing 7th house) as their main significator, and Mars, ruler of the 4th house, as their co-significator.
Mercury is strongly placed in his own sign (Gemini) and on the cusp of his own house. This is a mildly fortunate testimony for the Mavericks which shows they will play well. If Mercury were a little closer to the house cusp (1-2 degrees) this would be a more convincing testimony in their favour.
However, Mercury is also combust (within 8.5 degrees of the Sun): This is a serious affliction which counts strongly against the Mavericks, very much as it did in Game 1 (the forecast for that game erroneously overlooked the pernicious effects of affliction by combustion, which very likely played an important role in the result; a win for the Celtics).
The Moon makes one significant aspect over the 5 degrees orb usually considered effective for contest charts (even allowing leeway for stoppages breaks and timeouts); a sextile to Jupiter for the Celtics.
This favourable aspect from the Moon to Jupiter (for the Celtics) coupled with Mercury combust afflicting the Mavericks suggests a likely win for the favourites.
