Euro 2020 Day 19: 3rd July 2021

Charts are set for BST (GMT+1)

The heavens support the underdogs in today’s Quarter Finals, and the favourites in both matches will need to work much harder to make it through to the next round.

As favourites, Denmark are signified by Saturn (Lord 1).  The Moon, ruler of the opposing 7th house is already busy as significator of events and so her dispositor, Venus, steps in as substitute to represent the Czech Republic.

The Moon applies closely to conjunct the 4th house cusp (victory for the underdogs):  This is a powerful testimony for the Czech republic, as if the universe is cheering for their team.  The next aspect of the Moon again favours the Czech Republic, a square to Venus (who is not only the main significator for the Czech republic but also Lord 4, victory for the underdogs).

Making a balancing case for Denmark, there are two favourable testimonies from the Moon, a square to retrograde Saturn (Lord 1) and a square to Mars, (Lord 10, victory for the favourites).  However, the Moon must travel a considerable distance (12-13 degrees) to perfect these aspects:  This is much further than the 5-6 degrees of influence usually effective for a 90 minute football match:  The best chances for Denmark will occur the longer the match continues into extra time, but they will still have to work hard to overcome a formidable challenge from the Czech Republic.

On to Rome, where England are odds-on favourites at win against Ukraine and advance to the semi-finals.  But do the heavens agree?

As favourites, England are described by Saturn, Lord 1.  The Moon rules the cusp of the 7th house but her role as significator of events takes precedence, so her dispositor Venus is again called from the substitute’s bench to represent Ukraine.

The Part of Fortune conjunct the cusp of the 10th house (victory for the favourites) is an encouraging sign for England, but the wide orb of this aspect (4 degrees, when an orb of 1-2 degrees would be preferred) makes this testimony inconclusive.

Those who watched Ukraine’s last game against Sweden will know they are not a team to underestimate, especially when they have the support of the Moon.  She applies to square Venus, a doubly fortunate testimony for Ukraine as Venus is not only their main significator but also as Lord 4, represents victory for the underdogs.

The squares from the Moon to Saturn (Lord 1) and Mars (Lord 10, victory for the favourites), may even the score for England.  But as the Moon has comparatively far to travel to perfect these aspects, England’s best chances will occur in extra time. Fortunately for England, there is likely to be a lot of it. Less happily, this game may be decided on penalties.
