Ranked 4th to Croatia’s 11th in the FIFA rankings, England are expected to do well in their first game of the tournament. But do the heavens agree?
England are represented solely by Venus, ruler of the 1st house. They would usually have the ruler of the 10th house as their co-significator but in this chart, the 10th house ruler is the Moon, who already has a key role describing the events of the match.
Mars (7th house ruler) and Saturn (4th house ruler) represent Croatia.
The Moon immediately applies to conjunct Venus, the most powerful testimony in favour of the favourites, England.
In his book “Sports Astrology”, John Frawley observes that bodily conjunctions from the Moon are usually final: The lunar conjunction with Venus should be sufficient to secure a win for England.
However, some caution is advised: Immediately after her conjunction with Venus, the Moon moves to oppose the antiscion of the Part of Fortune at 05 Aquarius 40. This favours Croatia.
Furthermore, Saturn (4th house ruler, representing victory for Croatia) is placed very close to the cusp of the 7th house (Croatia’s main house in this contest chart). This suggests that Croatia will approach the game with a winning mindset, and prove strong opposition.
The lunar conjunction to Venus shows that this match is England’s for the taking, but they will need to take charge, and the earlier the better. Ideally, they must ensure a result is secured within the first 90 minutes. The further the game strays into extra time, the greater the opportunities for Croatia to turn the match to their advantage.
