All today’s matches promise to be closely fought, but the contest chart for Belgium vs Senegal has some interesting testimonies which invite further analysis.
Belgium, as the favourites, have Venus (lord 1) as their sole significator. The Moon who, as lord 10, would have been their co-significator, already has a role describing the flow of events.
Senegal are represented by Mars (lord 7) and Saturn (lord 10).
The first aspect the Moon makes (over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for 90-minute football matches) is a trine to Mars. This favours Senegal. She then trines Uranus and conjuncts Pluto in quick succession.
In astrology, Uranus is something of a bye word for disruption, whilst Pluto (as observed by John Frawley in his book Sports Astrology) often appears to have a grudge against the favourites: Judging by the Moon’s aspects alone, this match promises surprises.
Neptune on the cusp of the 7th house (Senegal) may be significant: In the right mood, he can cause upsets to rival Uranus. Neptune’s influence is more difficult to gauge that Pluto’s: Whether he chooses to favour or hinder Senegal remains to be seen.
There is little in this chart to favour Belgium. The Moon eventually squares the antiscion of Venus (at 08 Taurus 52) but has to travel beyond the 5-degree orb of reliability to do it: This could describe an opportunity in the latter stages of the game, most likely during extra time.
The strongest testimony in this chart (the lunar trine to Mars), favours Senegal. Belgium’s best chance is likely in the latter stages of the game.
However, the prominence of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in this chart caution us to expect the unexpected.
*Please Note: The aim will be to post one forecast for each day of the tournament, in advance of the match start time. All charts will be cast for BST (British Summer Time, which is 1 hour ahead of GMT/UST). Due to local time differences, the date of the contest chart may vary from the local match date. Forecasts are for astrological information and educational purposes only. Charts are set for the scheduled kickoff time. As forecasts are published ahead of the event, there is a possibility that the chart may change if the start of the match is delayed, making the published forecast invalid. In accordance with John Frawley’s system for judging contest charts, the favourites will be chosen on the basis of the bookmaker’s odds in advance of the match

Belgium vs Senegal was (astrologically) the slightly more interesting chart for that day. I would have expected the result of Mexico vs Ecuador to have been closer than it was, as the chart set for 2am BST was inconclusive, but I understand that kickoff was delayed for an hour due to a thunderstorm. The chart for the revised time (3 am BST) puts the Moon in Capricorn just inside the 1st house: in hindsight this confirms the win for favourites Mexico.
