Astrological Football Forecast for the World Cup 2026: 15th July England vs Argentina

In the UK, the odds are usually strongly skewed in favour of a win for England.  But for this match, even the UK bookmakers admit (despite a slight bias towards England) that the result is likely to be close.

The past performance of both teams may offer greater clarity. In this tournament, England have won all but one of their games (a draw against Ghana).  Argentina have been victorious in all their games so far: Judging by this criteria, Argentina must be the favourites for this match.

As favourites, Argentina have Mars (lord 1) and the Sun (lord 10, the house of victory for the favourites), as their significators.

England are represented by Venus (lord 7) and Saturn (lord of the 4th house, the house of victory for the underdogs).

The Moon, who describes the flow of events, is in the 10th house (Argentina’s house of victory), within 1-degree of the house cusp. John Frawley writes; “(the) Moon applying to or close inside the 1st or 10th cusp: victory goes to the favourite”. This looks extremely good for Argentina.

However, Frawley also writes that “(the) Moon’s final aspect wins”.  Over the 5-degree orb considered most reliable for a 90-minute football match the Moon makes just one significant aspect; a trine to Saturn, lord of the 4th house (England’s house of victory).  This is a correspondingly powerful testimony for an England win.

So we have two strong testimonies of victory; one for each team.  At this stage of the tournament, a draw is out of the question, increasing the likelihood of extra time, and a dreaded penalty shootout.

Is there anything in the chart which could sway the match in favour of one team all the other?

Possibly.

John Frawley observes that if Pluto is conjunct or opposing the Part of Fortune, or the antiscion of the Part of Fortune, this favours the underdogs.  In this chart, the antiscion of Fortuna (at 03 Aquarius 40) is closely conjunct retrograde Pluto at 04 Aquarius 33.  If England are the least favoured team (which their tournament record past implies they should be) Pluto may yet come to their aid.

This promises to be one of the most closely fought matches so far, with plenty of tense moments for fans of both teams.  Argentina are likely to dominate the game (Moon in the 10th) with England rallying in the latter stages (lunar trine to Saturn). However, victory may be in the gift of Pluto.

*Please Note: The aim will be to post one forecast for each day of the tournament, in advance of the match start time. All charts will be cast for BST (British Summer Time, which is 1 hour ahead of GMT/UST). Due to local time differences, the date of the contest chart may vary from the local match date. Forecasts are for astrological information and educational purposes only. Charts are set for the scheduled kickoff time.  As forecasts are published ahead of the event, there is a possibility that the chart may change if the start of the match is delayed, making the published forecast invalid. In accordance with John Frawley’s system for judging contest charts, the favourites will be chosen on the basis of the bookmaker’s odds in advance of the match

  1. I don’t think Argentina are the favorites. Although they have won all of their matches, they have struggled in every knockout-stage game. They needed extra time against Cape Verde, they went behind early against Egypt and came very close to needing extra time again, and against Switzerland, if it hadn’t been for Embolo’s red card, Switzerland probably would have reached the semifinals. Many people are also against Argentina because of several controversial incidents during their matches, so I believe England are actually the favorites.

    1. when I think historically about which team has the most accomplishments Argentina definitely has more trophies than England, so I think Argentina as a favorite makes sense.

  2. Regarding the win indicators, does Frawley rank which indicators are stronger than the other? For example, how do we know whether moon conjunct the MC should be given more or less weight than Pluto conjunct the antiscion of Fortuna? Why isn’t it the moon conjunct the MC that’s the tie breaker in this case?

    1. Thank you for your question, and the opportunity to clarify 🙂 It is true that we do not know for sure that Pluto’s antiscion conjunct Fortuna is more powerful than the Moon conjunct the MC, or even the lunar trine to Saturn. But he may tip the scales in favour of the underdogs, should he decide to get involved.
Experience has taught that both testimonies (Moon conjunct MC, and Moon’s final aspect to a team significator) can bring victory. Here they are equally balanced, one for each team. In which case, we must look for a deciding factor, something to give the edge to one team or the other. The study of contest charts is less like a fortune teller looking in a crystal ball to see what “will” happen and more like a military tactician surveying the field of battle: What are the strengths of each team? How can they use them to turn the battle in their favour? In such an equally balanced chart (two teams with equal advantage) Pluto is like a warlord watching two armies fighting from across the battlefield : If he orders his army to join one side or the other, he is likely to decide the outcome. John Frawley observes that he is more likely to ally himself with the underdogs.
