At the time of writing, France are favourites. They have Mars (lord 1) and Mercury (lord 10) as their significators.
Rivals Paraguay are represented by Venus (lord 7), and Jupiter (lord 4).
The Moon applies to conjunct the 4th house cusp. The orb is wide; 2-degrees or under is ideal, whereas, here, the Moon must travel almost 4-degrees to conjunct the house cusp: This testimony cannot be read as signifying a win for Paraguay, but does show that they will play well, and prove stronger opposition to France than the pundits expect.
More significant is the Moon’s applying square to the antiscion of the Part of Fortune (at 07 Gemini 45). This also favours Paraguay.
France are the favourites, but this chart is all about Paraguay. The result is in their hands, for better or worse.
*Please Note: The aim will be to post one forecast for each day of the tournament, in advance of the match start time. All charts will be cast for BST (British Summer Time, which is 1 hour ahead of GMT/UST). Due to local time differences, the date of the contest chart may vary from the local match date. Forecasts are for astrological information and educational purposes only. Charts are set for the scheduled kickoff time. As forecasts are published ahead of the event, there is a possibility that the chart may change if the start of the match is delayed, making the published forecast invalid. In accordance with John Frawley’s system for judging contest charts, the favourites will be chosen on the basis of the bookmaker’s odds in advance of the match

Hi louiseofarabia,
Your forecast for the SPAIN VS URUGUAY match was for 2200 BST but the match actually started at 2 minutes past the scheduled time, which gives an Ascendant of exactly 28 Sco.
While the Moon hitting 4th cusp is still valid as you write, BUT the Moon going for square of the antiscion of Fortuna (which you rightly describe as more significant), is NOW INVAILD in this chart.
I so this because the match kicked off two minutes later than than scheduled time. So this SQUARE had become past and thus irrelevant and would not be a counted testimony for Uruguay. (Or against Spain)
Another testimony not mentioned by you (and I don’t know why) is the antiscion of 4th lord Jupier being right inside the 7th, giving Uruguay an edge but not victory as lord 4th in the presence of other testimonies, as here, is minor.
A very strong testimony in favour of favourite Spain is surprisingly missing in your forecast and which is valid if even we take the Scheduled time and not the actual time. And that was Lord of 10 Mercury representing Spain (or their victory) heading retrograde straight into Fortuna (distance 2:36 if actual time of start is taken into consideration or 3:1 by your count of scheduled time).
And finally, (I am leaving a few more talking points) the antiscion of Mars or Spain, is 25:41 Can, to which the Retrograde Mercury Lord 10/Spain/victyory) is heading within minutes!
There was not a chance for URURUAY!
Thank
RZ Ali

All excellent points! I’m not sure why I missed that application of Mercury to Fortuna either (
except to say that clearly no-one is immune to the effects of Mercury retrograde!) Thank you for spotting it! This is an unbeatably strong testimony for a France win and probably the most important testimony in the chart. I also agree with your point about the antiscion of Jupiter (lord 4) in the 7th: Not enough to award Paraguay victory, but a sign that they would put in a strong performance. And so it proved – one of the match reports describes the match as “hard fought”. The antiscion of Mars conjunction with Mercury is already separating, as Mercury is retrograde, so I would interpret this aspect as relating to the past. Nevertheless, there is enough in this chart to confirm the win for France as you rightly say. Regarding your comments about timing: This is, unfortunately, an occupational hazard when posting forecasts in advance of the event. If the kick off is late, it can throw the whole chart awry. This is the main reason I now avoid posting charts for contests like the Super Bowl, in which the start is almost always delayed. Thank you again for sharing your insights. I hope you continue to enjoy the posts and the tournament 🙂

Hi,
I just commented on your post about France vs URUGUAY but instead of France, I mentioned Spain. I dont’t know how to edit comment but if you do put that out, may I request you to correct that error and also where I mean “I say so” but wrote “I so”
Thank you

I prefer to publish comments as received rather than edit them, for transparency’s sake. But it was very clear which team you were talking about, and the merit of the excellent astrological analysis is far more important than any typos! Thank you again for your contributions 🙂
